WOW! I wonder if its true! If it is then I dont know whats wrong with this woman. Im sure Oprah wont be following up on that.

Haha if only she did...she won't because it will make her look bad though!! Love Oprah but she definitely makes mistakes sometimes

As far as not feeling sorry for her I agree with Denise above...I don't either...too many times she left her kid in the car and now it's too late...sorry but I call that gross neglect !!!

People also dont realize how dangerous this is for other reasons too, kids do get kidnapped so i would be so afraid of this. When i was about 4-5 years old. My parents had to go in somewhere but didnt want to leave me inside the car alone so a friend said they will stay with me. I was in the back seating playing and the friend was in the front seat but was laying down bc it was a road trip and we had driven a long time so took the time to just stretch their legs and stuff. It was in a huge parking lot and it was late at night. I remember it so clearly and it was so scary. Someone walking by only saw me in the backseat so thought i was alone, i was an idiot kid who kept playing with the locks, guess i thought it was fun to lock and unlock the door. I saw this man come over to the car and tried opening the door, luckily i was playing with the locks so i was able to lock it RIGHT AWAY since my hand was right on it. Once i locked it he tried to break in but i screamed and my parents friend in the front seat jumped up and reacted quickly, luckily the guy got scared and ran off when he saw someone else was in the car. Its weird but i always think about that, i think what if my parents did leave me in the car for a few mins alone like many parents do. They think 'oh we're just running in quickly and will be back out in a few mins so the kid will be fine alone for a few mins' if they would've thought like that too then i would've been a kidnapped kid which is so crazy to think how close i came to that, or who knows if i'd even be alive. WHat i do remember is that my mom said she wouldn't go in bc she refused to leave me alone, but my dad needed her to so once the friend volunteered she said ok that would be fine then.

Re: Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday

Ok, I hate to pull the 'mom' card but I have to say this:

For the first year of my daughter's life, we were SO overtired from not sleeping that we did the dumbest things. I drove away with coffee on the roof (more than once) , I burnt dinner several times, I walked into walls, I put ketchip in my coffee (instead of milk). I once fell asleep at a red light. While driving to work. It's THAT bad.

You have never felt exhaustion like you feel after a baby. After months of not sleeping, you become dumb. Especially if she was a working mom. I don't think it's fair to say she is a 'bad' mother, as the woman on the Oprah site did. She didn't murder her child. She made an awful, horrible mistake.

read the other posts, they say that in the police reports and reported on the news in the hometown that she knowingly did this many times. She would go to meetings and leave the kid in the car and when ppl asked about the baby she would say it was in the car sleeping, she even had a day care director come to her to tell her she needs to stop doing this bc of how many times others have seen her doing this. Even spoke about her going to her older daughters play and left the kid in the car.

I understand as a mother there is exhaustion and cant even imagine what its like, but she has done this many times on purpose. ALl the other times she admitted she left her kid in the car, but the one time when this happened she claims she forgot, so i really doubt thats the case. I completely understand what youre saying and i think those that saw her on oprah felt for her especially mothers who know what its like. But they also didnt show what it said on the police reports that this was a habit she did all the time

Re: Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday

The whole point of the show was to show how women try to multi-task and there really is no such thing as multitasking because we put one thing on hold to try to do that second third or fourth thing 'at the same time'
I did wonder too how can something like this happen (especially for such a long period of time) but the woman did seem to be telling the truth and i felt really bad for her.
I was talking to women that I work with and they said things like this happened when they were raising their kids (definitely not as severe) but it was a result of just simply being overwhelmed
I know about 3 -4 examples just from my neighbors of things happening like this, some ended tragically, with a baby being out of their sight for literally less than 5 minutes
We are all human and make mistakes and you can tell this woman genuinely hated herself for this mistake.
I'm not even a mom and I know I do things all the time - like driving towards my college instead of work (i graduated 4 years ago!) or leaving my house and thinking where the heck am i going

ETA: Just wanted to add that I totally disagree when people leave their kids in the car intentionally. I used to work at a bakery on a VERY busy street and people would double park and expect to cut line and be helped in less than 30 seconds 'because my baby is in the car!' That is just totally selfishness

How do you forget your kid? Maybe you lock your keys in the car or you forget your phone...but your KID??? Honestly.

i just wonder if all that stuff was directly from police reports... like were the police reports posted publicly, online or something and thats where ppl are getting this from? bc i think its impt to know where the info is coming from and whether its just heresay.

it just puzzles me how someone would think it wouldNT be deadly to leave a 2 yr old in the car for that long, ya know? like thats what makes me think this time WAS a mistake. calling her a murderer isn't fair IMO. she obviously was not charged with murder and there had to be a lengthy investigation. this woman is also clearly distraught. why would she just decide to intentionally leave her child in the car knowing that she'd most likely die!? it is NOT right to be making a habit of leaving children in the car if thats the true pattern she had but im just saying.
