Do you celebrate your engagement anniversary?

I have a confict with our 'engagement anniversary '. I moved to Westchester in Nov. and have had a hard time making friends in the area. My SIL who I'm very close to invited me out with her friends for Sat. night - great opportunity and sounds like fun. Only, Sat. is also the anniversary of our engagement - and we were thinking about going out to dinner, we weren't 100% yet though. So I'm not sure what to do. Any thoughts? Do you celebrate your engagement anniversary?

Ours was yesterday

, but no we didn't do anything special to celebrate it - it was just nice to reminisce about it and the past year and how much has happened.

we've only had 1 engagement anniversary so far. we acknowledged it, but nothing more.

yearly wedding anniversaries should be celebrated. not every milestone. Celebrating every milestone lessens the importance of something like an anniversary. JMO

well mine is the 4th of july so we are always doing something that day anyway. We acknoledge that day as our engagment anniversary day and so far we go to the same spot and relive the moment. this year will be two years so well see if we do the same thing.

Our 1st one we did mainly b/c it was 3 days before our regular anniversary but now we are only celebrating our wedding anniversary

Nope. We don't/won't celebrate any except our wedding anniversary. We don't actually remember the date when we got engaged (we were in France, the days were long, we were exhausted!).

We have been going out to dinner on that night but thats as far as our celebrating goes. We will save the real celebration for our wedding anniversary, don't want to take away from that.

We didn't even mention our engagement anniversary, but we still acknowledge our dating anniversary-- not a big celebration, but we make sure we do something together that day.

well.. we were engaged for a year and a half, so we had our 1-year engagement anniversary during that time... we celebrated that a little bit, i sent DH a bamboo plant for his office- LOL and he took me out to dinner... but now that we're married, we dont' even worry about it- except just a quick ' oh yeah, its our engagement anniversary- happy anniversary!'
so i would say go ahead and go out with your friend
