Re: Facebook or Myspace?

I have both.

I started with MySpace because my sister was on it and kept hounding me to put up a profile too. When my DH decided to make a page for his business and then made one for himself, I started playing around and created one for myself too.

Then came Facebook much earlier this year..... again, my sister got me into this. I've reconnected with many classmates from elementary school and junior high, and it's great for networking with my young adult cancer survivor groups. DH is floored by just how many old friends and classmates he's reconnected with from his childhood and his old neighborhood.

But with Facebook, I don't like the way it's so revealing, meaning EVERYONE knows every little move you make. I admit I do put up those silly status things. But anytime you join something, everyone knows about it. For instance, one of my sisters is currently dating...... any time she sends a 'flirt' message to someone (similar to a 'wink' on Match.com), EVERYONE who is on her friends list knows that she did that. I think Facebook is less private than MySpace, but I'm finding that lately I'm using it more. My sisters and I use it as a way to communicate when we're busy during the week and want to make weekend plans.

And the whole app thing.... my computer crashes anytime I click those 'someone sent you a _______' like 80s toys and Christmas decorations. So I just click IGNORE, because otherwise I have to reboot.

You can change your settings on Facebook to however you want it. For example, NOBODY (including friends) can write on my wall. My cousin set hers so I can't see any of her friends, so we don't know who she's dating. Now that my aunt joined Facebook, I'm going to change my setting so no one can tag me in photos. :)

Re: Facebook or Myspace?

I started on Facebook because my sister told me to join. At that point you needed a college email and my alumi address is active so I was able to join that way. None of my friends from college were on it when I joined, I had like 2 friends lol. I didn't think it was that fun at first and was on myspace all the time. Lately most of my friends are on facebook as opposed to myspace. I now prefer facebook to myspace and go on that regularly.
