Re: sonic

i have my cake topper and my favor in my china cabinet- oddly it matched my china, i plan on framing my invite somehow- my bo-k - well thats another situation- since we basically went from our reception to the hm- my bo k was left behind forgotten and i didnt get to dry it properly but i will prob. wind up taking off one of the flowers and throwing the rest out my pictures will go along my staircase too- all in the same frame for a unified look.

Re: sonic

I'm going to make a shadow box as well. I got this as a shower gift from my friend & I love it so I'll make something bigger with my bouquet & a few other things to go with it. I have a wall in the hallway that will be a few wedding pics & these shadow boxes.
As for the other pictures I'm not sure.......I love so many but I don't want our house to look like we are wedding obsessed!

Re: sonic

I've been into scrapbooking lately - so most of my pics, fabric swatches ets will go in there with stories - I really like the 'journalling' part of a scrapbook.

Also, I am going to go to Michael's and buy a shadow box - it's a frame but with depth so I can put in some of the things I want to display.

good luck

Re: How do you display WEDDING STUFF after the wedding?

Stef -what I have done is place some of my things in a glass curio (like someone else had mentioned) and what I did with our invite was place it in a double 5x7 on one side, with our wedding pic on the other. I got this beautiful classic Lenox frame (the ivory with silver trimming) from my mother as one of our gifts, and it looks aweosme altogether. I put a B/W pic in with the invite and it compliments well. I would take a pic to show you if I had a digital cam. Just a thought...

Re: How do you display WEDDING STUFF after the wedding?

Im doing the scrapbook thing for our invitiations, some pictures and even our recipts. Im sure that will be a hoot to look at after 25 years of marriage to see how much we spent! Our cake topper will go in our dining room hutch. We used all silk flowers and Im still trying to figure out what to do with my bo-k!

Re: How do you display WEDDING STUFF after the wedding?

Thanks guys... my home is small so I really dont have space for anything but wall hangings (no curio cabinets or stuff like that).

In fact, I have that very same lenox double frame sitting in my closet right now...it doesnt go with anything and I have no space for it! If anyone wants it, I will give you an excellent deal!

Lisa: The receipts are a great idea...i think I will add those to my scrapbook :D

Re: How do you display WEDDING STUFF after the wedding?

I still have all the cards but I dont think Im going to do very much with them since 99% of our guests just signed their name. For the people who wrote something sweet inside, I will keep those in my scrapbook but very few people did that so it wont take up much room.

I saw this on Martha Stewart ...if you are craft and want to make some ornaments out of them...

Holiday Card Ornaments

These ornamental balls are made from holiday cards from Christmases past. Cut out twenty circles: For a small ball, trace around the base of a jar that's about 1 1/4 inches in diameter; for a large one, trace around the bottom of a glass. Cut another circle the same size from cardboard; on it, draw an equilateral triangle, points touching the edge of the circle. Cut out triangle; trace it onto the inside of each of the twenty circles. Score, and fold along all the lines. Next, use clear-drying craft glue to join one flap each from two circles—triangles should point in the same direction. Using the same technique, attach the flaps of three more circles to these two, forming what will be the top. Make the bottom in the same way. Glue remaining ten circles together, this time with triangle points alternating up and down, forming a straight line. Glue the two end flaps to form a ring; this will be the middle section. Then glue top and bottom pieces to the flaps of the middle section. Use a needle to create a small hole, and hang from silver thread.

I like that idea Steph. You could even string the smaller sizes together to make garland. It does sound like a ton of cutting and pasting. It sounds like a good rainy day project.

Re: How do you display WEDDING STUFF after the wedding?

Cute idea, but I would not have the patience for that!
I too have a few really sweet cards from the guest bowl, but not enough to fill up a scrapbook - we also had a traditional guest book so I think I'll just add them to the back pages....

After more thought: My cake knife luckily matches my china, so at least we'll be able to occasionally use that again, and I just have a shelf for now dedicated to wedding stuff - for my unity candle, picture frames and possibly my dried bouquet.
I like the idea of a shadow box so I'll probably put the rest of my things in there.

Re: How do you display WEDDING STUFF after the wedding?

Stef,

I love the ornaments - gotta figure out when I'll have the time since the wedding took over and I haven't done a stitch of Christmas shopping yet!!!!

But I think I'll modPodge them so they'll last from year to year.

Thanks
