you are 'supposed' to go every 6 months when you are birth control i guess for medical reasons - so that means i have to go every 6 months if you aren't on the pill and don't have any issues then you only have to go once per year - and then maybe more frequently as you get older

That is so odd that your gyno would tell you to get the prescription from your regular doctor! I've never heard of that before! I went to the gyno every 6 months and than they would give me a 3 month supply and a Rx for 3 months...

would your gyno call the pharmacy up to refill it or would you have to go pick up a new script at their office? my gyno said I have to come in everytime I need a re-fill, they can't call it in. And I went right before the wedding and saw the PA not the doctor and she only wrote a prescription for 3 months worth. Usually the doctor writes for 6-9 months worth. I am so pissed because I don't have insurance right now since I just got married and my work said I cant get it since it will take 3 months to b eligible and then in June I am leaving my job since I will be student teaching. So now I have to go probably pay 100's of $ out of pocket just to go get a freaking refill on my scripts and then pay $60 for my yaz. ugh

My guy just calls up my pharmacy. Man that stinks! I remember when i didnt have insurance, it was such a pain. I think I paid like 90 every time. My doc also hands me like 4 free ones when I leave the office. He used to feel so bad for me when I didnt have insurance. I love my doc.

I'm really surprised that your gyno told you the regular doctor would give you a prescription. I've never heard that.

I have my annual visit and I always have to do a 6 month check up.I think it has something to do with the insurance. I just switched birth controls last month so I'm not sure if I have to go back every time my prescription runs out.

You should call the gyno office and explain that you need them to call in a refill. As long as you make an appointment they will almost always do this for you. Good luck!

Basically they give you a 6 months rx so that they can make more money off of you. You need an annual gyno exam, unless for some reason you are having problems with the pill or if you have an abnormal pap smear. These are not my ideas, but what my new gyno told me (I see her once a year and I saw my old one twice a year.)

As for your prescription, usually the gyno will give you a month renewal if they can not schedule an appointment before your pills run out. Also - you can start a new pack of pills anytime during your cycle (as per my gyno). So even if lets say you missed a week, you can just start taking the pills and your body will be on a new cycle.

I have to go every six months to get a six month RX. They do a breast exam and check my blood pressure since there are so many side affects with BC. If i run out early they refill over the phone, but they will only do it once a year and they make me schedule an appointment asap.

HAHA Sure. theyre up in my cabinet just rotting away. My doc gave them to me incase I wanted to go back on them at some point. but Ive been feeling so good off of them.

I seem to be in the minority here, but my regular physician DOES refill my BC for me. My gyno says that that is fine...I guess all MD's are different.
