Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
Dance with your husband, spend time with him, do not get pulled apart. Roger and I danced to every single song together

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
I think maybe I wouldn't have spent so much time making the table 'rounds'... I did have a great time at the wedding and so did John- but the table rounds took a while and we probably should have just been dancing. But we did eat and enjoy ourselves... and when I go to a wedding & the B&G don't come over I do get annoyed- so I'm sure I did do the 'right' thing. The best thing we did was EAT THE FOOD- so many people don't... we paid enough for it so I'm glad we did.

Scoop - who was your vidoegrapher?I have not booked mine yet - I definitely want one, but have not heard good/bad about them.
Sonicstef - I agree about asking those who have been through it.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
I have another one but this might be controversial...DONT LET YOUR GUESTs FORCE YOU INTO ANOTHER RECEIVING LINE AT THE END OF THE EVENING!!
Almost every wedding I have been to (with a few exceptions) the bride and groom spend the last few minutes of their reception saying goodbye to guests instead of dancing.
Personally, I think stopping the couple right before the reception is over to say goodbye just so you dont have to wait in line at the valet or some such reason is so incredibly rude but that is another topic.
Anywho - dance your first song together and dance your last song together no matter what!! (of course the ones in between are good too). Your last dance is really your last chance to take it all in and its a good parting memory to have.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
Biggest mistake: Forgot to make a thank you speech to our parents and guests who travelled far and wide to attend and share our big day, especially to ask the guests to leave the table cameras on the table (some guests took them home), forgot to remind DH to sing with the band 'Happy Birthday' to his mother (our weddig day was also DH's mother's b-day). Didn't highlight with a marker all the fine print on our photographer's contract about the extra cost involved with photographing all tables with the bride and groom as my father was very upset about this. He didn't bother to read as it was so obvious and I wanted to save money thus we skipped photographing all 13 tables. He wanted all his extended family's tables and my mother's side tables to be photographed which discriminates as it leaves out our friends and DH's family and friends' tables. All 13 tables to be photographed by Cassarino Studios is $200.00 per table plus 8.5% sales tax plus 18% gratuity. He did not read the fine print nor care to listen when I'd explained to him.Best thing: Having table cameras, pro videographer, my dress bussled were all extra money but was well worth it.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
our mistake....not researching a photographer/videographer more. We kind of went witht he first person, and because we were on a strict budget, went with the price also!! We aren't unhappy with our pics, just wish there were more of them.Best thing,...having the BEST day of our lives!! Having the wedding that was ours and no one else. Do it our way!
I must agree with Stef about taking the Newlyweds advice. We have been there, done that. Im not saying that we are the experts but we have more experience!
Best of Luck with your planning!! Enjoy every minute of it and dont let the little things get you!!

He did not read the fine print nor care to listen when I'd explained to him. That is an insane policy! Why charge extra for those photos and where does it say you HAVE to give 18% to the photographer as a tip! I would NEVER recommend this photographer based on this information alone.

I used Cassarinos too and thought that was ridiculous. I didn't have them take photos of the tables.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
Is there a reason they charge so much? My photographer took table shots - it doesnt take very long. And since you are already paying them for their time, why would they object (or charge more) to photograph something specific while they are being paid?

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
Not to hijack the thread... but why are they charging you ANYTHING extra for photographing something at your wedding. They are already there and working for you - why would they charge more to take a few photos? Im trying not to be judgemental assuming there must be a valid reason but I cant think of any.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
My 'mistake' is kind of a vain one..I wish I would have freshed up my makeup before the cake cutting. I look all fresh for all the major photo ops up until then since 3 hours of dancing made me look a little not to refined! It's not hideous or anything, but I wish I could jump into some of those pictures and put more lipstick and blot my face.
My advice: HAVE A GREAT TIME! You should have more fun at your own wedding than any other you have ever been to! Don't worry about entertaining and playing hostess all night...dance, drink and have fun!!! The night flies so don't spend it chatting with everyone and mingling. Dance with your hubby and have fun. The best weddings are where the bride and groom are having the time of their life...the energy rubs off on everyone and makes it memorable for all.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
I do not understand WHY they would charge extra. Isn't it there job to photograph the wedding? Doesn't that mean all the guests? Aren't the guests at the tables? What is that? I can't deal- I would never, ever use that photographer simply based on that.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
I think the table shots are important- even just to have in your proof album- you get to see everyone that was there- those people might not be in the candid shots...

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???
Misty Eyed- I'm sure it will work out fine- don't get upset. You hired who you hired- I have seen Cassarino's photos and I think they are very good- it's just nervy to charge xtra for something that should be a basic service.

Thank God for video for anyone that cannot afford the extra $200, tell your videographer to pan each table and let everyone wave for you.
