Was your florist Bellrose floral park florist? I cried, when I saw my bo-K. It was the ugliest thing in the world. I never told her what a horrible job she did with my bo-k. It haunts me everytime, I see my wedding video. It was literally Sh1t on a stick.

It looks nice in your avatar pic. But I know, if its not want you wanted, that's a huge disappointment.

No, don't get me wrong..it does look nice, if I planned on holding it like a sword, all day, all night. It was made to be held very low pass the waist length low. No one knew that, not even the BM knew it, so on the pics, you could totally see, the ugly white stick, sticking out, it was horrible, simply horrible, not even a ribbon to cover it.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???

Biggest mistake - being strong armed into having family in the wedding party. My SIL did her best to piss me off and be a total biotch that day. Never-ever again....

Going w/my DJ. I can't think of his name because it was a package deal but they just totally SUCKED!! I don't even think they are in business anymore....

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???

I really don't regret anything but if I had to say something was a 'mistake' it would be:

-- Trusting SandCastle to do my cake after hearing bad reviews on their cake

Best thing:

This is tougher because there are so many

-- getting a limo for just me and DH to be alone in

-- Checking out our ballroom when it was all set up before anyone went it

-- Grabbing people for pictures as soon as the thought entered my mind

-- Not extending the reception one hour as I had originally planned or spending the extra money on the Viennesse hour

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???

My biggest regret was hiring my florist. He was heartbreaking and I had a very traumatic experience with him on my wedding day. Here is what I learned:

Make sure all your vendors *like you* heading into your wedding day. They have to like you and your husband personally to do a good job. It helps. If a vendor rubbed you the wrong way in planning or you ticked someone off, drop them.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???

My biggest mistake was allowing my father to pick a massive fight with me the night before the wedding (it totally ruined my rehearsal dinner). I stayed in the bathroom and cried for most of it. Then my grandfather did the same thing when I got home that night, so I basically had to cry myself to sleep the night before my wedding. However, when I woke up I let it all go, and refused to let my family ruin anything for me. It was my day with my new husband...and it was perfect.

But I cant think about my rehearsal dinner without getting upset!

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???

My biggest mistake - picking a fast song to dance with my 70 year old Mom to! If you have read any of my posts, you'll may recall that my Mom fell during our Mother/Daughter dance. She didn't want a slow sappy song so I chose Tom Jones-She's a lady. Not a good idea!!! She went right down and broke her arm. She had to leave the reception before it was over. 3 months later, she still has no motion in that arm.

Come to think of it, the real biggest mistake I made was not throwing a hairy fit and demanding they put downthe dance floor we requested, and that was in our contract! We knew their slate floor could be a hazzard!

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???

This one is for all the girls with corset back dresses - I had mine tied too tight. I mistakenly believed that the tighter it was, the better (and thinner) I'd look. It just made every bit of chub or skin (no matter how small) spill out over the top. Not to mention I couldn't breathe! When I took my dress off at the end of the night, I actually felt my back return to it's normal position. Looking at some photos it still bothers me.

The best is to try to remain relaxed on your day. I had a very tight schedule, but tried to remember that all that really mattered was that I was marrying DH. Getting ready at my house was hectic, but everything was done on time and went smoothly. Just take a deep breath and enjoy everything about the day.

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???

mistakes? well, with table cameras, not indicating that the flash is important! and not being more organized with the photographer...there are lots of shots that we don't have and if i devoted more time to pics with family, then that would be alleviated. otherwise, i am happy with our day!!!

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???

I would definitely have to say this is the best thread I have read and am glad so many brides and grooms have contributed to it. It really gives you alot of little things to keep in mind. I guess it's not really so little if it could have been prevented by making a list.

Thank you everyone,

Best Wishes,

Thomas

Re: Poll: Biggest Mistake???

Mistakes:

1. Getting browbeaten into having a really big wedding, but not receiving much help (especially from my mom, the one who insisted on the big wedding) in planning. Oy!

2. Missing dessert!

Best things:

1. Planned an *amazing* honeymoon.

2. Finding liweddings and similar boards! Don't know what I would have done without them.

3. Hiring a day-of coordinator.
