Re: sorry to crash board.. need past bride advice

Its a very personal decision....even prob started a few fights on these boards

You'll know in your gut what is right for you.

For me...DH and I went a step further and even spent the whole day together. we both got ready at his grandmother's house...we woke up together, I ate breakfast with him, I left to get my nails done, came back and he was getting dressed and the photog came...

It was the right decision for us 1) we both felt like there was no need for a grand moment- we wanted to be together like we have been every day for years now and walk into the marriage totally hand in hand
2) we were able to take pics and get them out of the way so we could walk around during coktail hour
3) he kept my nerves away- seeing the man I loved and was about to marry reminded me to just enjoy the day and not get freaked out

Re: sorry to crash board.. need past bride advice

we did not see each other, but we had about an hour before the CH, so we took pictures then. no one in the bp or the families missed the ch b/c of pictures.

Re: sorry to crash board.. need past bride advice

We took pics before hand. They are in my album.
It worked for us. We were able to relax, take pics and enjoy the ceremony. We also relaxed during CH, in the bridal suite. It was special to have some time together.

Re: sorry to crash board.. need past bride advice

Having the pictures taken before the ceremony worked out wonderful for us! We were able to enjoy the cocktail hour and our wedding.

Sorry, i do not have any pictures that i can show you at this time!

Re: sorry to crash board.. need past bride advice

i didn't want to see my hubby until I walked down the aisle....but thats just me. So we arranged a gap in between the ceremony and the reception. But if you don't want to miss your cocktail hour I guess that will be your best bet to do it before.

Re: sorry to crash board.. need past bride advice

I HAD the same dilemma but now reading all of the posts i realize that a special moment before the ceremony is probably even better than the walk down the aisle. I want to enjoy my cocktail hour as well.

How long before the ceremony do you think we should begin pictures?

We started 2 1/2 hours before. We were done within 2 hours (without rushing) and then had some time to relax and freshen up before the ceremony. Discuss it with your photographer. I think the size of your wedding party and families will make a difference on how much time you will need.

Re: sorry to crash board.. need past bride advice

I think if you really don't mind seeing him before the ceremony, I would do it if I were you. Your photographer can still capture the shot of FH seeing you for the first time (even if it is not him on the alter). You will definitely be more relaxed for your CH and not rushing around to get all your shots done. I have seen many people not see their husbands before the ceremony (I work at a catering hall) and most of them get taken out of their reception to finish up some shots because the hour just isn't enough time. I would suggest doing the pictures before the ceremony as long as you and FH don't really mind seeing each other. But definitely have your photographer capture that shot of FH seeing you for the first time!!!
