What to do - gift check bounced!

What to do - gift check bounced!

One of the checks I received as a wedding gift bounced and my account was charged a $6.50 service fee!! And I already sent a thank you! My gut says to do nothing at all.... the check wasn't for that much and I think the guests need it more than we do. Any thoughts on this?

I only had one check bounce, and it was from on of our GM who I am really good friends with. I just told him it bounced--No big deal.

I agree. We had a bounced check and we just waited for the guest to say something to us about it.

I would not say anything, chances are they already know it bounced as well. I would let it go.

I would let it go, especially since you say they need it more than you do.

We had that happen to us on 2 checks from my hubby's side. He told his parents and they spoke to the people. They knew it happend and we re-deposited one. The other was from his god mother (who bounced our engagement check too) But this time she came over and gave us cash plus the fees.

They will get notified by their bank that the check bounced, so I wouldn't say anything. They will know and probably will send you another one.

Thank you all for your responses. Isn't it nuts how many little things you have to deal with that no bridal book/magazine talks about?!? sheesh!!!

we got lucky with that one. I thnk I would have let it go too. They will know the check bounced.

WE had one bounced check and we didn't know until she told us and then we were notified by our bank. Our bank didn't charge us, so we redeposit the check. It cleared!

It's amazing....... it seems as though every bride goes through this.

Agreed. Hopefully, they'll give you the cash this time around...best wishes!

I definitely wouldn't say anything because they WILL be notified by their bank...

I had two checks that bounced and the guests called me and sent new ones after apologizing profusely. I would let it go if they don't realize it on their own.

I would let it go but call the Bank and tell them you shouldn't be charged for someone else's financial troubles. This happened to me and they credited me back the money.
