Re: POLL: Whose Mother or MIL wore a more expensive gown than YOU on YOUR wedding day?

i have to dig out a pic of my mil dress. i was furious when i asked what color she was wearing so i could make sure her corsage complimented her gown i was told black. i almost had the florist dye roses black to compliment her dress but my mom wouldnt let me.... then i found out how much money it cost because she was chatting to all that would listen about it at my shower.... it was this long black sequined dress with this sequined and beaded jacket that looked joseph and the amazing techincolored dream coat lol.

my mom and mil did not go crazy on the price of the dress but there colors where what bothered me. my mom wore black and mil red. is it just me or what. i was really upset about my mom wearing black, like it was a wake not a wedding. but that was just me

I think there is wedding black and funeral black. My mom wore a black gown that had silver beading and black lace. It was by NO means a dress that you could wear at a wake. She didnt want it to be black - but she looked awesome in it so i told her to buy it.

No my dress cost the most...there was no battiling for attention that day. My mom wore a rose pink and my MIL wore black.

Ditto.. after reading some of your posts, I guess I am fortunate that both my mom and MIL were really conservative about their dresses that day

My mom wore a pale blue and my MIL wore a creamy beige.. I dont think either of their respetive gowns costs more than $300 (my dress was a steal also, about $600)

Re: POLL: Whose Mother or MIL wore a more expensive gown than YOU on YOUR wedding day?

This happened to one of my best friends. her MIL's dress was more expensive than her dress was. she was so appalled. And it was black, yuk. So depressing. That's fine for a guest, but please. But her in laws are always very tacky when it comes to fashion. At her engagement party the SIL wore a purple leather mini dress that looked like it was painted on and the MIL a black halter polyester version that looked like it came from the Macy's juniors dept. I mean God bless if she's still got the body to fit into that stuff at 50, but try to look your age. No wonder she had trouble finding something sophisticated for the wedding.

I think it's so sad when they feel they need to steal the attention away. If it's any consolation whoever posted the pic of the MIL in the purple ball gown, I think it looked very silly on her. I thought your mother looked much nicer.

Re: POLL: Whose Mother or MIL wore a more expensive gown than YOU on YOUR wedding day?

To be fair my dress wasn't very expensive ($700). My MIL's was $900 (not worth it in my opinion) and my mom's was $400.

Re: POLL: Whose Mother or MIL wore a more expensive gown than YOU on YOUR wedding day?

Oh I made a mistake! I just remembered my MIL wore 2 dresses for the wedding. One for the church and one for the reception,
The first one was around $700 and the second one was around $600 so yes her dresses combined cost more then mine!
