How our Fairytale began......

We met at a friend’s birthday party in NYC in March 2005.

Proposal
John told me he was going to work so I was home watching TV. I received a phone call a couple of hours later to meet him in Queens b/c something had come up and he was unable to go to work. Next thing I know we are at my favorite park, ever! We walked along the path, and sat on a bench with the best view of the water and the Bridge (which connects my house to his house), he sat there talking and talking and saying how much he loved me. He had lost his phone two days prior and was using mine all day. He then said ' So how are you going to tell everyone when you don't have a phone?' to which I replied ' Tell everyone what?' and that's when he got down on one knee in a patch of rocks and asked me to marry him.

Save the Dates – Magnetstreet.com - A
We were engaged July 2nd 2009 and by August 1st we were already booked at our reception hall and had planned our engagement party. Crazy, I know. Since we had picked our date and we knew it was going to be a busy vacation time we ordered our Save the Date magnets from magnetstreet.com. I love my STDs….FH has put all the extras we ordered ALL over our refrigerator…lol




After the wedding we had a few extra and DH put them on our refridgerator.



Engagement Party – A
Our engagement party was August 11th, 2007 at my mother’s house. All food was catered by 3 different places. We had our cake made by Valencia Bakery. Our favors were the cheese and knife set wrapped in white paper with Hershey kisses which I ordered from Liz at Yours Truly Flower shop Throggs Neck, NY. We played games, had “couple” questionnaires, bridal party buttons, and prizes. It was a blast. I’m so happy we were able to put it all together.




Bridal Shower – Spiga’s - Scarsdale, NY – A
My mom and my bridal party TOTALLY surprised me on April 11th 2009 with my bridal shower. It was amazing. FH told me we were going to lunch with his aunt and uncle for Easter so I had no clue it would be my shower. I LOVED my shower. I do not know where they got my cake from but it was yummy! The food was delicious. I bought the dress in Atlantic City and found matching shoes. LOVE IT! The favor was mirrors and white chocolate lollipops which were ordered from Liz at Yours Truly Flower Shop, Throggs Neck, NY.













Registry – Bed Bath and Beyond - Elmsford, NY – A
Registering was so fun. We were there for 5 hours and BBB bought us DINNER. I thought that was pretty cool and made John really happy. As far as the registry I thought they had a great selection of items and they have THE best return policy EVER.

Laser – Theresa Foster – Commack, NY – A
I had been waxing my underarms for about a year and it hurt like hell every time I’d have to go in. Then I found Theresa on this site and decided that her prices were reasonable and gave it a try. I am sooo happy that I did. It was the best. It’s not painful, didn’t burn, and left no marks/bumps. http://www.lilaserrn.com/

Bachelorette Party – New York, NY - A
I am not the typical bachelorette party type and did not want one at all. So one day my MOH calls and says “clear your plans for Saturday we’re going out”. I got sooo nervous. But my MOH, BM, mom, and aunt went into the city and saw a Broadway play. It was awesome. We saw West Side Story and then went to dinner at an Italian restaurant right near the theatre. It was a great show and a great idea on my cousin’s part. I had a blast.



Rehearsal Dinner – Kati Allo Queens, NY - A
We hadn’t planned on having one because the bridal party lives kind of far and were all coming in the next morning. But my best friend, John’s friend from California, my parents all went to dinner the night before at a local greek place in Queens. It was yummy and the service was great. Our waiter was an elderly man married for 40 years and was so cute when he found out we were getting married the next day, he started giving us advice and asking about the wedding. When we all asked for the bill, my dad had already taken care of it which was super sweet of him. I heart my daddy <3




Weather – A+++++
All my 08/01/09 girls can agree WE HAD THE BEST WEATHER! The day was gorgeous and after such a rainy summer I was soo worried. I stalked the weather 14 days and everyday it would change from sunny to cloudy to downpours/hurricanes, haha. But the day ended up being beautiful.


Officiant – Minister Keith Gugliuzza – A+
Keith is AMAZING! We knew from the minute we met him that he was the person we wanted to marry us. He was so helpful during the planning process and when getting our marriage license. I highly recommend him, he really made John & I feel comfortable and did a beautiful ceremony. When we got back from our honeymoon everything was already at my mother’s house. I cannot say enough about how WONDERFUL Julius and Mimi were from JB Bridal were for my wedding. I visited every bridal shop I could find. Low end - high end – Westchester – NYC - NJ – LI – even CT…it felt like I went everywhere. I couldn’t find anything big enough or sparkly enough until I found out about a couple in Queens who made custom made dresses. I was in heaven when I arrived. At the time they were designing from their home but have since moved to a location in Oceanside, NY. I was so impressed with their craftsmanship and designs that I pretty much had ALL of my dresses made with them.

My Dress – A+++++++++++++++++++++++++
I went to soooooo many dress shops high end, low end, NYC shops, CT shops, and some NJ shops. I never had that “wow” feeling. I walked into their shop and was floored by how beautiful their dresses were and when I found out my dress could be custom made, I was SOLD. I went into XOBridal like 20 times before my wedding to create the dress, do fittings, they were AMAZING through the entire process. I looooove them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!






My Second Dress – A+
One day while trying on my dress I saw this one and had to have it.






My Veil – A+
I love my poofy veil. It was cathedral length and had crystals and embroidery along the edges.


My Jewelry – A
I bought my necklace, headpiece and earrings from XO Bridal as well. They matched perfectly with my dress.


Flowergirl Dress - A
I wanted an exact replica of my dress and it came out perfect!!!!! I loved it, she loved it and looked like a little wedding princess.



BM Dresses - A
This was originally a wedding dress that we edited a bit and made pink. I love them, they came out perfect. They fit and were made with bubble hems. They were a little expensive but the girls didn’t care and loved the dresses.



MOB Dress - A

I think my mom looked AMAZING. The dress was perfect, fit perfect, and the green was a great shade for her.






Jr. BM Dress - A
I wanted a replica of the BM dresses and it came out perfect. She didn’t even get measured by them and it still came out perfect. She, too, loved her dress.




My Shoes – Christian Louboutins from Neiman Marcus – White Plains, NY – A+++
Finding shoes gave me heart palpitations and again I feel like I went everywhere on the planet Earth to find pink shoes. After shopping and shopping and more shopping (it was such hard work…lol) I went to Neiman Marcus and saw my pretty pink babies sitting there calling to me and saying ---“We will be on your feet when you get married!” lol I LOOOOOVE my shoes and am now hooked on Christian Louboutins.

Groom, Groomsmen, Fathers’ attire – Feldman Esquire Tuxedos – A+
Mike was amazing….from the first time we went in to all the fittings and then after the wedding too. He even lent us a tie for my ringbearer and my aunt accidently took it back with her upstate…we went away on our honeymoon and when we came back she STILL hadn’t mailed it back. She was finally able to get him the tie back and Mike was so sweet and understanding about the whole situation. He was really great to work with and found the perfect pink ties to match my BM dresses. Mike was great!







Ring bearer tux– A
I bought my little cousin a tux from Burlington Coat Factory during Easter time. It was super fast and inexpensive. Mike from Esquire let me borrow the white tie to match my husband’s tie. It was so cute.





Florist – Elizabeth Uva from Giordano's Pelham Bay Florist – Throggs Neck, NY A++++++++++++
Liz is a family friend who we always knew we were going to use for the wedding. We were shocked to find out last Christmas when she informed us that she was going to be giving us our flowers as our wedding gift. She made me a sample and it was beautiful. Cry Packs – Gina from Bleu Diamond – A+++
I went to TWOTY 2009 and won Cry packs from Bleu Diamond Events. DH & I drove out to Long Island and met with Gina, she was GREAT, we discussed color, paper, and she even came up with the great idea of adding a Swarovski crystal to each one. When I went to pick them up, they were EXACTLY what I wanted and the pink was a perfect shade.


Calligraphy - Bill from INKSPUN.com - A+++
This process was SUPER easy and quick especially when I found out I could go pick up my envelopes since his offices are 2 towns away from my job. He was GREAT and very friendly. He also gave me a few extra which was awesome because the USPS screwed up some of the addresses.




Invitations/Programs/Favors/Aisle Runner– Prestige Weddings – New York, NY – B
We had issues with this company as a photography, videography, and DJ and ended up canceling our contract and getting a credit and used it to order pre wedding items. We ordered our aisle runner which came in quickly and was perfect. We ordered our invites and the matching programs from them. Then my mom added 1 crystal to each invite and 3 Swarovski crystals to each program and added pink ribbons. They came out great and matched with everything else perfectly. I also ordered the favors, glass photo coasters, with the credit. I placed the order in February and there was a mix up and they were never ordered. 3 weeks before the wedding I had NO FAVORS! They placed a rush order on them and they arrived 2 days before the wedding and I threw a fit and they wrapped them for me and the owner delivered them personally to DM on Saturday morning, THE DAY OF the wedding. So even the day before my wedding, I didn’t know if I had favors or not. But even with the huge bumps in the road everything came out great and I can’t complain about any of the final products.

Slipper Basket – Michael’s Hartsdale, NY & 99 cents store in Nyack, NY – A
The slippers were $1.99 but when I went back closer to the wedding they had gone down to 99 cents! I bought all the ones they had. They were pink and white flip flops and went perfect with the décor. The basket I found at Michaels and it was $14.99 and when I brought it to the register the cashier said “$6.89 please” SCORE! Then I made little notes on them with a cute poem. Day of the wedding, they were a huge hit and all the dancing people were so happy we had them.



Place cards – Staples Scarsdale, NY and Michael’s Hartsdale, NY – A
I bought the pre done white place cards from Staples and then bought little self adhesive crystal crowns from Michael’s. It was so simple and made a huge difference.



Name Plaque – Channa from Sweet Memories - A
What a sweetheart she is! I loved working with Channa. My name plaque came out amazing. The fonts and colors look great. We now have it up in our living room.


Table Numbers – Le Ink Coquette – A+++
I saw Eve’s work and was super impressed. I love her use of color and her sense of style and design. I told her I wanted “pink” “our epics” and “crowns”. She came up with 11 beautiful designs! I drove out to pick them up because it was super close to the wedding and I was nervous about shipping them. Eve came out and was so sweet! I highly recommend her. I cannot believe it but guests STOLE my table numbers, that’s how nice they were. I only have number 2, 7, and 8. I loved them so much I am going to re-order the set soon.


Cardbox – For the Modern Bride – A-
After seeing all the gorgeous boxes on this site, I knew I wanted one from FTMB. I ordered it months and months in advanced. I even won some contest they had and won a necklace, it was great. I was told that my cardbox would arrive approx 2 weeks before the wedding. The Saturday before the wedding I received an email saying that they had a lot of orders for the week before and that my box was delayed. I have to say they did waive all shipping costs which was super sweet of them and I did receive the box by Wednesday July 29th but it was close and made me nervous. The box itself was perfect and I love the design, size, crystals, and pink!



Make Up & Hair – Reiko Utsugi – B+
I had done a trial with a really high up makeup artist for Christian Dior but I did not like it at all, it was way too dark and I looked like I was going to a club and not my wedding. A girl I knew from high school used Reiko and recommended her. Reiko was amazing at my hair and makeup trial and I came home and booked her. Day of, Reiko was great except that she ran a little long which made us late. I loved my makeup and thought it looked very natural but by the end of the night I noticed my hair had gotten a little frizz which I guess isn’t really her fault but maybe the curl could have been a little tighter. But overall I was really happy with her and she is super sweet.

Epics – It took about 20 – 30 minutes and that was with a costume change! Love love love them. Tom made us feel really comfortable and we were thrilled that we had booked with him.

Rodel is married to a good friend of mine. He took some AMAZING shots. DH & I were so impressed with him. His shots were VERY creative and the photos came out BEAUTIFUL.














DJ – After Hours – A++++
My cousin got married in September 08’ and told me about his amazing DJ. DH and I drove out one day to meet with some of the very popular LI vendors and last on our list was After Hours. WOW, just WOW. Meeting Phil was like meeting an old friend, the 3 of us got along soooooo well. His pricing was great and our package was so awesome and included so much. I would email and probably annoy Phil almost daily and he was always so quick to answer my questions and help me with song selections. Phil also did all of our lighting which came out beautiful. He made my room PINK! YAY! We also had Zap shots and the Gobo by Phil which were both PERFECT as well. I LOVEEE AFTER HOURS!

Chaircovers – TableWear – A
We met with Donna and she showed us what she had and how she could tie our sashes AND add crystals to the sashes. They came out beautiful! I loved them so much!


Hotel – The Andrew Hotel – A
The Andrew Hotel was amazing both before our wedding while setting up the out of town guests rooms and our day before rooms and night of room. Up until about a month before our wedding we had booked the suite. At the last minute I decided that the suite was kind of a waste of $ after we had seen the regular rooms and decided that we would rather spend that money on our Honeymoon. So I called the Andrew and canceled the suite and just booked a regular room for DH & I for the night of Aug 1 to Aug 2nd. We received a key and when we walked into the room…it was a SUITE anyway! They had also set out rose petals all over the room, a bottle of iced champagne and a box of chocolates. We were so happy! They were so sweet to have given us the upgrade. I loved the Andrew and totally recommend them for wedding events.










Random People our friends met while running around the hallways of the hotel at like 4am.


Taxi Services – Ollie’s booked by the hotel – C
As some of you knew, I didn’t need limos b/c I was getting married at DM, I only needed a 4 mile drive from the Hotel to my RH so everyone could get ready there. They were fine. The drivers were okay, not rude but not too friendly.

Signature Drink – Created by John Trockel – A++++++
After going to TWOTY with the “blue stuff”, I knew I wanted a signature drink. Since my John is a professional “mixologist” aka a bartender lol All the liquors, wines, champagne, and signature drinks were a huge deal to him. I gave him the words “pink” and “yummy” and he came up with our signature drink, the “Trockeltini” which I have to say was soooo good. People at the wedding are still asking us what was in it.



Ceremony & Reception Hall – DM - A

I don’t know where to start with the quality of service we had with DM and their entire staff. The New DM was AWESOME!
Let's start with my BM, SAM. HE WAS THE BEEEEEEEEEEEEEST! I cannot say enough about him. He was on the ball since the day we booked (2 years ago) and went above and beyond for us. Everything was PERFECT, from the room, the ceremony, cocktail hour, my ice sculpture, menus, THE FOOD, the cake, and the bar. EVERYTHING was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! and it was because Sam knew what I wanted and made it happen.

My bridal attendant Michelle
This girl was GREAT! From the moment I arrived till we were driving away this poor girl waited on me hand and foot. She even wrote us a little letter on our cake box, it was soooo sweet!

WOW She was the one who collected all my stuff all week and was supposed to be my bridal attendant but something came up and she wasn't at work. So when FH & I sit at our dais table we see a little pink note with a glitter butterfly on it and it was an apology note from Michelle to apologize for her not being there and congrats etc. It was one of the cutest notes EVER!



THE FOOD
People are still calling my mom to tell us how GREAT the food is. I LOVED my food. FH loved it...and people raved about all the cocktail hr food, the dinner, the cake, and the chocolate fountain. AWESOME!





The Staff
Our bartenders, waiters, and runners etc......were totally awesome. I've been to so many weddings where the staff are young kids who could care less...this was NOT NOT NOT the case here. The staff was soooo accommodating and nice.....they were always asking if we needed anything.






Cake – Andy from Cascon in Whitestone, NY – C for one day then back up to a B+

I had spoke with Andy about our wedding and we had agreed to a 4 tier fondant plain white cake with raspberry filling and every other layer chocolate cake or vanilla cake. Then I asked because I didn’t like the height of the cakes I saw them producing that I wanted a fifth tier. At that time, he said it would be fine and that I was a pain but he would do it for me and we all laughed. Fast forward to July right before the wedding and he tried to charge me $120 for the fondant and the tier. Now anyone that knows me knows I would have paid any amount of $ to have the cake I wanted HOWEVER, I am also not a sucker and if you knew you were going to have additional charges you should have told me about them when we discussed it not yes me and then 2 days before my wedding say I have a bill for $120. Sam took care of it and Andy decided to give us our fondant and the tier as a wedding gift and the bill was magically removed. The cake looked beautiful and although I only had a small piece, it was soooo yummy. The guests also loved it. AND for my first married birthday DH bought me a cake from Cascon.

UPDATE: 08/01/10

We just ate our top tier for our Anniversary and the CAKE WAS DELICIOUS!!!!! It was chocolate cake with raspberry filling. It tasted GREAT even after 1 yr.





Honeymoon – Sliema, Malta/ Golden Bay, Malta / Valetta, Malta – A+++++
Our Honeymoon was the most beautiful and romantic place EVER! Malta is a small island West of Greece, South of Sicily, North of Libya, and East from Tunisia. The food was amazing, our hotels were amazing. We stayed at The Palace Hotel in Sliema and the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort in Golden Bay. We also took a boat trip to Popeye Island where they filmed the 1980s movie Popeye and where they filmed Gladiator.
