My 02.18.12 St. Patrick’s Church, Jericho Terrace, Duet, FlowerBarn, Couped-Up,AfterHours, Camelot, Hair Genie, Lolalovesmakeup amazing wedding day review!

My review is going to be pretty basic- not super picture filled (all pics are on FB)

Shower location-Horace & Sylvia’s in Babylon- great for a shower of about 30 people (which mine was) very accommodating, food was great, my mom said the manager was super easy to deal with. Overall rating- A+

Rehearsal Dinner Location-Gino’s in Islip- another great location for a smaller rehearsal dinner. We only had people who were actually in the wedding party attend & some of their significant others- a total of 18 people- the back section was perfect- we had an 8pm reservation for Friday the 17th & since it’s not a private room I was nervous that other people would be seated near our party- it was a nonissue- they sat everyone near the front of the restaurant, so our party was private. Food was great; we did a tab for drinks- everything relatively inexpensive. Overall rating- A+

Jericho Terrace- I was in the Oak room- at first when we booked I was nervous about the amount of people that could actually fit in the room but it all worked out, room was beautiful. We had 110 in the room which I think was perfect. My BM (Chad) was very easy to work with, although kept pushing off having a food tasting, so we just gave up on asking- we were told when we signed the contract that our cake would be Dortoni’s—but then they switched to an in-house baker- and I was a bit skeptical—asked Chad to keep it Dortoni’s, he said it was no problem. Our MD was Walter- very easy going-did anything I asked, but I don’t feel like our personalities clicked too well. On the actual day there was a sweet 16 going on and I had asked to make sure that no teenagers would be running around near my room- during my final meeting they said ‘no way- they will not be near you, etc’….the second I walked into the hall on my wedding day the girl whose party it was walked up to me and said ‘you’re getting married on MY sweet 16!?!?!’ I wanted to slap her. Then since the coat check & hospitality room are both near the Oak room there was a lot of traffic- people walking around. That was really my only complaint. Everything went super smoothly, the bar tenders were great, the bridal attendants were great. There was endless food; the bridal suite was well stocked with food/drink for my bridal party. The bridal attendants made sure everyone in the party had a drink. Overall rating-A

St. Patrick’s Church- We had a ceremony, not a full mass so we had Deacon Joe (who is very nice) making all the arrangements with the church was super easy (scheduling precana, focus, music selections, etc) during the rehearsal the women who ran it were a bit disorganized- would have liked it better if Deacon Joe was actually there. On the day of- the women were still disorganized- they let the limo driver send down DH’s parents & my mom before the correct music started- then the music was also a bit messed up- they played Canon in D for the bridal party and for me & my dad…didn’t bother me TOO much, but would have liked a little bit more organization. Overall rating- B

Duet Photography (Kevin’s Team)- Amazing! Well so far they have been…haven’t received my proofs yet- but my Epics which were taken in TriBeCa came out great thanks to Kevin. He is very friendly (as are all the Duet guys) as for the day of- he was at my house on time & was ready to work- same is true for his assistant with DH. They were great at the reception, not too intrusive, took any shots I asked for—I will have to update this once I receive proofs- Overall rating-A

Flower Barn- LOVE FlowerBarn! I am so not a flower person, and I wasn’t up until my flowers were delivered the morning of- OMG they did such an amazing job on all my bouquets, boutonnieres, and I was obsessed with my CPs- they came out perfect- exactly the look I was going for. Mike is the main contact, very friendly/easy to work with- he ended up showing my 2 samples because the first time I wasn’t 100% sure on when he presented- then for the updated version it was perfect. Incorporated all of my colors/theme- very happy with Flower Barn. Overall rating- A+

Couped-Up Productions- I was on the fence about booking a videographer up until about 3 months before my wedding- most of the videographers were booked that day- so I tried couped-up & am soooo happy I booked with Rob. Very reasonable priced, quality of work is amazing (from the trailer that is available)—family, coworkers, etc keep asking me where I found him & how it must have cost an arm & a leg—definitely worth the investment. He was on time, friendly; made sure he got all the shots he needed without interrupting the photographer. I will have to update this review as well once I receive the final product. Overall rating- A+
--UPDATE: changing to A++- got my full length video back it is amazing, so happy with how it turned out- if you're on the fence about getting video-get it & use Couped-Up!

After Hours DJ- I knew I wanted AfterHours from the beginning, after seeing some of the other DJs at showcases they were just more my style. I am not into all the uplighting/ names on the floor/ smoke machine, etc. Since the oak room only allows a certain amount of space for DJ equipment, we did the one man DJ/MC combo- so glad we did. James was our DJ/MC & he was great!! Didn’t shout on the mic the whole night (DH hates that) got everyone’s name correct during intros- played all the music on our must play & didn’t play any of our do not plays. The dance floor was packed pretty much the whole night-very happy with AfterHours. Overall rating- A+

Camelot Limo- I called several different limo companies- since we had a smaller wedding- I just wanted the basics, Joe was very easy going- listened to what I needed- & didn’t give me the run around. We ended up with the Bentley & 10 person Lincoln stretch- he said if the newer rolls Royce was available on my day we’d get the upgrade- that was cool…we ended up having the upgrade on the stretch- we got the 12 person navigator—everyone fit comfortably, drivers were very friendly (one driver started sending my bridal party down the aisle before it was time to start, so I was on edge about that)but other than that minor detail- no complaints. Overall rating- A

Hair Genie- Jenn is great! You show her a pic of what you want once- and she nails it! Trials can get expensive, so I definitely recommend having a clear idea of what you want to eliminate unnecessary trials. She was very professional, showed up on time, did my girls’ hair just as they asked, and if they wanted something changed-she changed it. Overall rating- A

Lolalovesmakeup- Andrea is great- was very happy with her- trials are relatively inexpensive. I happened to like how my makeup turned out on my trial more than my day of- but I still liked it that day. I feel like it was a little less on the day of- so if you have a pic from your trial, be sure to show it day of to avoid any changes from the trial. She was on time& professional. Overall rating- A

Village Bridal-I went to a couple bridal salons before I decided to get my dress at Village Bridal- I was nervous shopping that I wasn’t going to find a dress that I loved- the dress I ended up getting (Sophia Tolli- Beckett) was one of the first I tried on at Village. Laura was the woman who helped me- it’s great because they are non commissioned so they are not pushy/ they don’t select dresses out of your budget. I ordered my dress mid-May, got the call it came in some time in the fall, then had 2 fittings. The alterations came out great- very happy with them. Also got my veil, and bridesmaid dresses from there. Bridesmaid dresses were Bill Levkoff-Style 526 in Euro Navy. The girls ordered in September, dresses came in by early December- alterations were great on them as well. Overall rating- A+

Men’s Warehouse (Massapequa)- we selected MW because DH’s side of the family is from Boston, so I knew it’d be easier to have them get fitted & order their tuxes from whatever location was closest to them. I had no issues with MW-when all the guys went to pick up their tuxes they all needed alterations. DH’s tux pants looked like capris-but they altered them immediately. Overall rating- A

Ev*nstar P*perie Invites- another LIW bride used the invites that I ended up using. She was easy to work with, however I feel like if you wanted something changed the tone in which her emails were written weren’t the nicest (I know, it is hard to convey tone via email) but when you’re wedding planning and paying a lot of money- these types of things should be perfect. My invites were beautiful- they perfectly matched my winter wonderland theme. Yes, it was a bit annoying checking the website everyday to see where you were in line, but the finished product was worth it- I received several compliments on my invites. Overall rating- A

STDs- Magnetstreet.com ordered them in like May 2011- they were delivered within a week- no complaints. I’ve heard some girls have issues with putting the magnets in the mailboxes, & them sticking but I don’t believe I had that issue- everyone seemed to have receive theirs. Overall rating- A

BM gifts- monogrammed totes from LLBean-A, Silver Pashminas fro Macys- A , paying for hair- A

GM gifts- leather wallets with monogram-personalizationmall.com-A

Honeymoon-Sandals Montego Bay- After reading some sketchy review on trip advisor I was a bit nervous that I booked there- but it was amazing!!! Seriously so beautiful, not run down at all- huge beach, lots to do- rooms were clean, pool area was clean- food & drink were good I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking into a Jamaica honeymoon. Overall rating-A

Hotel Block- Hilton garden Inn – Westbury. ---the manager was super easy to deal with, rates were a bit high I think for the middle of February (considering it’s a hotel in the middle of long island?) we had 139 & 159 rates. This included a shuttle to and from JT—I checked with guests afterwards and they said it was super nice, new, clean, etc. there was some chaos at the end of the night though, bc the other wedding going on at JT also had room blocks at this hotel so people were separated in different vans with guests from the other wedding- other than that- it was fine.
Overall Rating- A

Etsy- garter, placecards---LOVE all of them, FM if you want the details on the Etsy sellers, very happy with my place cards they came out perfectly.
