My 7/9/11 Brentwood Country Club (without the package) wedding- T&T Photography & Videography, Xtreme Sounds, Cruise Control Limo, Metamorphosis
LIW- A+I found this site years ago when I was previously engaged and the girls were helpful then and when it ended that were supportive. When I got engaged again I knew this was the place for me. 2011 girls were even better than the 07 & 08. I have met some great girls and have had a blast throughout everything.
Black Forest Brew Haus- A (engagement party)
My husband didn’t want a girly place and I had been to a party at this place before and remembered liking there food. When we went there they had a room that we could book and we booked it on the spot. They even set up our decoration for us that we dropped off the week before. The food was great and the open bar was fantastic.
The Blue Lagoon- A- (Bridal Shower)
My bridal party threw my bridal shower here and it was good. I loved the food and wine. It was a little noisy because there was a birthday party going on on the other side of the divider which is my only complaint.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help RC Church-
We started off rocky there but Father Trapani was fantastic to work with. DH is jewish and was against getting married at a chuch but came around. It all worked out in the end.
Brentwood Country Club- B
I thought I was never going to find a hall. I wasn’t really budget so I thought it would be easy but I am so picky. First and foremost I despise chandeliers so if a place had them then they were out of the question, I also refused to have red carpet, hate when there isn’t a defined dance floor, don’t like a place with a lot of mirrors or a place by the water which did not have an actually beach there nor did I want a place with a ton of flowers to attract bugs. I stumbled upon Brentwood and fell in love. It was small and simple and we could make it our own.
We learned that they have a budget package but after seeing what was included we choose not to do a package because it was a barebones package and it just didn't work for us.. Not having the package cost $10 more pp plus additional upgrade on food/ chocolate fountain Viennese trays (the cake was not included). We brought everything in including linens, chair covers, etc.
Josh the Maitre D was great. The owner Sammy gave us an attitude when we called to ask question and would say well if you did the package then vendor would know the answer but other than that we were free to do whatever we wanted which was awesome
A Modern Day Affair (DOC)- A++++++++
I found them when I posted on vendors helping brides. I met with Laura and was sold. We did their package with the photobooth (which was a huge hit). Shauna and Michelle did my wedding and they were great. We had a problem with the cake and Shauna was on top of it. From lacing the corset of my dress, running back to my apartment to pick up my second wedding band for my honeymoon that I forgot, to dealing with the florist, bustling my 27-point bustle and making sure my glass was never empty they were truly amazing. Michelle was fantastic when we took pics at the beach with controlling my cathedral train and veil. I could go on all day.
Metamorphasis- A for makeup, A- for hair
They are expensive but they were truly worth every penny package for the bride start at 500 minimum for trial and day of to add 4 brides maids no trial is easily around a grand i paid for my girls but they were so worth it and you can add on have them follow you whatever amount of time you want. for makeup I had Rachel and she covered my tattoos (which I messed up almost right away ) and did a flawless job on my makeup I paid for the Maid of Makeup and she followed me around all day touching up mine and my girls makeup until the party started. For hair I had Tia and her assistant they showed up early and got all my girls and my friends mothers hair done by the time the photographer arrived.
T&T Photography & Videography- A for photo/ A for video
When my husband and I met Hal we though he was great and easy to talk to. He did our engagement pics which I really liked and I hate pics of myself but we booked him for our wedding along with videography from his company. I recently got my proofs and I am in love. I told him I didn’t want to spend the whole day talking pics and I wanted certain things. He managed to get everything without being in my way. The videographer great also, he was never in my way and hot which was an added bonus. I can’t wait to see our video. Our video came out great.
Xtreme Sounds- B+/ A-
They have fantastic reviews and were happy to book with them. They aren’t the cheapest and they aren’t the most expensive but as far as the service they provide they are good. They did a great job on uplighting and kept people on the dance floor but they never put up our gobo. I would give them an A+ if they had but you can’t go back in time. In the end they are refunding the money and they went with the photographer to take the pic of it on the floor which was nice but it wasn’t there are I’m still annoyed about it
Alfred Angelo- A++++
I was not the kind of bride that wanted an all white/off white/ ivory dress and nobody was going to get me into one. I also can’t stand sashes on dresses. When I was looking for bridal dress with color I found Alfred Angelo dress and had to have it. I go the dress that had the colored train and band around the waist. The bridesmaid dresses were gorgeous too. 2 of my bridesmaid actually have worn their dress again one of them shortened it.
Wedding Center of Commack- D- / A- for alternations
They had the dress I wanted in store to try on. I went there the woman was very helpful and I ordered my dress paid in full and received $100 credit towards something else. When I was went for alterations the woman was great but didn’t want to remove all the lace on the bottom to shorten it because it may not look the same so she put a second crinoline slip on me to lift it off the ground, but she made it a corset back which I wanted and did a 27 points bustle. When I went back to the main store to pay and use the credit for the slip the owner Bob (I think that his name) called me a liar and told me that if I had the credit it was be in the computer. I went home and brought back all their receipts and it was there but he proceeded to yell at me. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
Princess Bridal- F
These people are the worse. They were fine when we first went in but the second they had the first dress paid they became a nightmare. The guy asked me if I was get a wedding gown and when I said I got it somewhere else he got an attitude “Well thanks I guess we aren’t good enough for wedding gowns”. They lost my dresses then found them so I went and picked them all up and paid in cash as they insisted I had to which was fine but when a few girls went to get their dresses altered they told them that they still had to pay the balance for their dresses before they can do alterations even though they walked in with the dress. Just don’t go there they are so rude.
Mens Warehouse- D
We had grooms men from out of state so we figured it would be easier but when the groomsmen picked up there tux nothing was sized right. It eventually got sorted out with minutes to spare.
Cruise Control- C+
We wanted a real Rolls Royce and they were one of the few places that had an authentic one (not what they call princess rolls because those aren’t a rolls Royce those are English taxis they just make them look like a rolls. If it has a split windshield it’s not a rolls). We got two Chrysler 300’s and a limo to the hotel for after to the hotel and a town car for the morning to airport. I specifically told them no Lincolns and even had them put it on the contract. The guys limo got a flat and instead of changing a tire (which they insist that they cant but my father owned a limo company until I was 24 I know better) or giving a different limo they sent a Lincoln with no alcohol. My father happened to stop by to see the wedding even though we don’t talk and he gave the guys alcohol.
A Taste of Home Bakery- D+
When trying to find a bakery we fell in love with their cakes. It was 25 dollars to do a tasting and their cakes aren’t cheap. We paid 1k for our cake and it was falling apart before the wedding started. They had come back and bring the cake to the bakery to fix it and then brought it back even less like what we wanted. They did give us the high 5” tiers and sugar flowers but nowhere near what we paid. We also wanted the cake out for the whole party which didn’t happen because they brought it back with ½ and hour to spare. (mind the cake topper that was dh idea)
Delicious Ds- A+
Got our grooms cake from her. Did everything by email. Cake was delicious. I found her through a 2010 Bride
The Little Details
Magnetstreet.com A
They were cute and did their job.
Panachebride (etsy)- A+
I was looking for a blingy bo-k wrap but came across this Swarovski crystal holder that can be made any way you want. I emailed her several times and she always got back to me. It was $300 but worth every cent. She added a ring so I could attach a picture charm and a blue crystal so I always knew how to hold it.
A Fresh Approach (favors)- A
They have the most delicious truffles. We wanted something small as favor because we had a photobooth and a candy bar. We got two truffles in a box with a bow and got a free plate of truffles for the bridal suite. We also got a tray for our rehearsal dinner
Efavormart.com and other places- B+
I got linens, chair covers, napkins, runners, personalized cocktail napkins, and 28” trumpet vases.
Invitationconsultants.com- B
Took me forever to find pocket folds that I liked. They were easy to work with online and their customer service is good but they are expensive and they didn’t send out the parts of our invitations so we had to call them and they corrected it. I did love our invites in the end after 10 hours of putting them together.
Barrons Veils (Tri County)- A
I went there to have my veil made
and didn’t know what I wanted but Barron was there and she helped me out. I got a fingertip length with detachable cathedral lined with Swarovski crystals. My veil was perfect.
Kristins Jeweler ( Bay Shore mall)- A+++
I wanted a band on each side of my ring and they made me a custom insert. They are so nice there. I got exactly what I wanted with high quality diamonds and they even took my ex fiancés wedding band back at full value.
Tri County Jewelers (various)- B+
We got my husband diamond wedding band at diamond roof which was beautiful but at first they didn’t size it right but they fixed it. We got our second wedding bands at another store (cant remember the name) my husband found a simple two tone band to wear on our honeymoon and I got a band made with diamond and sapphires at wear when we go away.
