My Amazing Wedding 11/3/13 - Watermill, Tommy's Tunes, Patken, Cheeky, Hidden Essence, NY Marriages etc.

LI Weddings – A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
My friend put me on to this site the week after I got engaged and I don’t think there’s been one day since that I haven’t been on it. I don’t know what I would have done without all of the advice and suggestions that I found on this site. I feel like I know some of you and I truly hope you all had/will have the weddings of your dreams as I have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall – A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Seriously best day ever!!!!!!!!!! ? I put a lot into this wedding and it really paid off (if I do say so myself). I did a ton of little touches that everyone loved. My programs were very personal and whimsical. I did cry packs which no one had ever seen before. We had a photobooth with frames as favors. Our theme was fall and the place was totally decked out with fall themed stuff. I had like 5 different favors which were all a big hit. Everyone had a blast and most importantly DH and I were able to enjoy every minute of our wedding due to our fantastic vendors. These people were all amazing and we seriously can’t thank them all enough. We were a little nervous at first since our wedding was a Sunday daytime (began at 11am!) wedding but Watermill and our vendors did such a great job decorating you would have never known that we were partying hard at 1pm lol! People were seriously shocked when they left and it was still light outside!

Bridal Shower:
Woodhaven House - Forest Hills, NY A++++
My Aunts and MOH threw me the best shower. It was a Sunday mid-afternoon brunch and it was perfect! The food was delicious the people at Woodhaven House were so nice and really helped my MOH set everything up. We had a private room which was awesome. It was just such a nice afternoon

Bachelorette Party:
Awesome 80’s Prom A+
Conrad Hotel – A++++++++++++++++++
Sugar Factory – A++++
I had a Totally Rad 80’s bachelorette party! My friends were so great! MOH and I went to the Conrad Hotel which was so gorgeous and cool and trendy to set everything up. We made goodie bags with both p*nis related stuff as well as 80’s candy and hair ties etc. We bought so much junk food it was ridiculous and made delicious jello shots. The rest of the party met us at the hotel and we ordered pizza and got ready to head to the Awesome 80’s Prom which was so cool. We all love 80’s music so we partied and danced and had an amazing time. The actors were so funny and they really stayed in character well. I heard they closed the show but if they hadn’t I definitely would have gone back it was such a great time. Then we went back to the hotel and played some bachelorette party games, drank and stuffed our faces with junk food. Great night!!! The next day we went the Sugar Factory in the meatpacking district for brunch. It’s a little tight in there but let me tell you the Resse’s Martini is TO DIE FOR. I think about it at least every few weeks lol. The food was great and it’s a cool place to visit with all the candy themed drinks and delicious chocolatey desserts.

Venue:
Watermill – A+++++
I can’t even begin to explain how much I loved the Watermill. We had seen a few venues and had pretty much decided on one but we already had an appointment with Watermill so DH said we might as well go check it out especially because we weren’t absolutely thrilled with our choice. I’ll be honest, I was a little hesitant since it was so far for most of our friends and family but I agreed. The second we pulled up we both got this feeling. It was like it was our place. I never thought I’d feel that way about a reception hall but I did and best of all DH did as well which was totally unexpected. We were shown the Carnegie chapel for the ceremony and Astor Suite for the reception and we fell in love the chapel immediately and knew we were meant to be married there. We went back to the car but immediately called and said hold our date we want to be married at Watermill. We had a few small glitches in the planning process (there are bound to be, people are human and no one is perfect) but Watermill really came through and gave me my dream wedding. I couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The grounds are beautiful the staff is amazing. The food is TO DIE FOR!!!!!!!!!!!! We were very lucky and got to deal with both Bob and Roy as our BMs and they were both the best. They both really seemed to care about us and our wedding and we felt very comfortable with them. The day of our Maitre D was Bryan who was super sweet and very on the ball without being bossy or anything. Our captain was Brendan and he was great as well. Jenn was my bridal attendant and I LOVED HER!!!!!!!!!! She was amazing and also just seemed to really care about us and making me happy and comfortable. Our whole bridal party loved the staff too.

Hair:
Mazal (my very close friend) - A+ to infinity (lol)
I might be biased because I happen to love my hairdresser as she is a very close friend of ours and also the wife of one of our groomsmen. She did an amazing job especially since it was 4 am and she had to do me, my MOH, BM, mom and get ready herself for the wedding. She’s AWESOME!!!!!!

Make-up:
Glam Me Up (Kelly) – A+
Kelly was wonderful; she arrived 5 minutes early which was awesome because I was nervous about time. She got right to work and everyone was super comfortable. She did a fantastic job on me, my MOH, BM and MIL. I clicked with her immediately at my trial and was happy to see that I felt the same way about her when she arrived. I highly recommend her to everyone!!!

Florist:
Hidden Essence A+++++++++++
Michelle is amazing. Like seriously amazing. We went to one florist who was like your typical florist with the gorgeous showroom and they show you gorgeous arrangements but it just didn’t feel right. Although the flowers were beautiful it all just felt so impersonal. I was planning on meeting with Michelle anyway but when I mentioned it to the Cheeky girls and they said they thought it was a good idea to meet with her I knew I had to! And we are so glad we did!! I immediately felt like she got what I wanted and really cared about my wedding and about Elbert and I as well. It felt like a friend was doing the flowers for us. We met with her a few times and when we saw our samples centerpieces we knew we made the right decision. They were EXACTLY what we wanted! The day of Michelle and Liz were punctual with delivery and all of the flowers, bouts and bouquets were gorgeous and fresh. Again, if you want that personal touch and want a florist who’s more of a designer than just a florist go to Hidden Essence!!!!!

Photographer and Videographer:
Patken Photography - Before (A) and during wedding (A++++++++++)

We only saw 2 photographers in our search. We went to Patken first and absolutely loved everything about them. Their studio in Lindenhurst is simply amazing. The photos on the walls and the vibe of the studio just struck us immediately. While we loved them we knew we needed to see at least one more company so we went to see someone else and it was just different. We didn’t have the feeling like we did when we walked in to Patken’s studio. So we called back and put down a deposit. Our first engagement shoot was fantastic. It was with Nick and he was very nice and made us feel comfortable. The pictures came out fantastic and we were very very happy! About a month after that we found out that we won a package with another photography company and after a major discussion between DH and I we decided that even though we would save quite a bit of money if we accepted the prize we felt that Patken was meant to be our photographer & videographer so we stuck with them and we’re very glad that we did. Our second engagement shoot (we wanted two one indoor and one outdoors) was wonderful. We had Kevin and he was great!! When it came time for them to assign a photographer I requested Vinnie since I had heard wonderful things about him. I am SOOOOO happy I did. Vinnie fit in so perfectly with my friends and family and I was beyond comfortable with him. He came with Jimmy as a second shooter who was very nice and I requested Tim as our videographer and he was awesome as well. They were so perfect, they did just what I wanted which was not run up and take a million pictures and make all my family and friends move around. Vinnie made sure to get all of my must have shots and he directed people around without being bossy. He was very nice to my mom who is disabled and he is so sweet!!!! I CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY PICUTRES AND VIDEO!!!!! I’m sure they will be amazing because the people who took them are amazing!

Officiant:
NY Marriages – Keith Gugliazza A++++++++++
I think the biggest compliment you could give an officiant is a bunch of your guests asking how long you have know him 5 years, 10 years? Seriously at least 20 of our guests thought Keith was a friend who got ordained to marry us. We knew he was the perfect choice for us when we first met him. The funny thing is one of my requirements (weird I know) is that our officiant be tall. I always imagined being married by someone tall. Or maybe it’s because DH is 6’3 it. So anyway, Keith is pretty tall so he fit the bill in that way. But when we met with him it did feel like he was a friend. We spoke for about an hour and had a bunch of emails back and forth and he sent me his questionnaire which we completed. The words he said when marrying us were so beautiful he used all of the most important parts about our questionnaire and made our ceremony exactly what we wanted even though we didn’t really even have to tell him. He is fantastic and again, really cares about the people he marries. From what I know he is the one who does all of the ceremonies himself which was very important to me. I would have hated to see a stranger up there when we’re getting married. He stayed for a bit afterwards and talked to us and chatted with our bridal party and seriously everyone loved him.

Limo:
Serenity Limo A+
We actually were very lucky and won a package from the Watermill which included Serenity in it. We are very happy it did because they were all so nice to work with. The drivers were very sweet, the cars were nice, new and immaculate and everyone including the driver who picked us up the morning after to take us to the airport was extremely punctual (something I’m VERY appreciative of)!

Cake:
Rolling Pin Bakery (included in Venue) – A
The only reason I’m just giving them an A is that I had no real involvement with them. We ordered samples. They all tasted delicious and we picked one and then we picked the cake out of a book. I had no intention of spending anything additional on the cake. Especially because it seems the minimum for upgrades is quite a few hundred dollars. With that said, my cake was the best tasting wedding cake I’ve ever had (lol). It was pretty and exactly how we picked out. I wish Rolling Pin was closer cause I would use them in the future for other things.

DJ:
Tommy’s Tunes – A+++
We were lucky enough to win a package with them but the honest truth is we were going to go with them anyway! So we were doubly lucky! We met with Steven our DJ and then also with Tommy. Tommy was such a sweetheart. We wound up seeing them at a showcase at Watermill and from that we picked Frankie as our MC. OMG was he amazing! So much energy and he was just awesome, and so sweet. They kept the dance floor packed and did a great job with the uplighting to make it feel like it was an evening wedding. We really were so luck with all of our vendors. Frankie also felt like a friend almost immediately and I’m so glad we picked him for our MC although honestly everyone at Tommy’s Tunes was amazing at the showcase. The other awesome thing about it was that Vinnie (photographer) and Frankie are friends so they worked super well together which made me very happy!! I’m so glad we won the package at Tommy’s Tunes cause it helped us out a lot but I couldn’t have imagined going with a different DJ company anyway. I’m sure we’ll use them when it comes time for bar mitzvahs and quinceañeras (I’m American Jewish and my husband is Colombian Catholic so this is our compromise lol)

DOC:
Cheeky Details – A++++++++++++++
I seriously don’t even know where to begin. Heather is simply amazing. (I’m sure Jamie is too but I always spoke with Heather and she was my DOC on the day of). Once again I feel like it was a friend helping me with my wedding. I knew I wanted a DOC as soon as I started planning because I didn’t want to be stressed or make any of my family or bridal party stress on the day of. I wanted everyone to have fun and not worry if the programs were put out or the menus were one per plate etc. Heather was great from the day we met with her through the day of the wedding. She calmed me down many times during the planning process and was always a voice of reason. I liked that she didn’t always “yes” me, if she didn’t agree with me about something she very nicely, professionally and politely showed me her point of view (which was always right lol). I mean I can’t imagine my wedding without her. Seriously make room in your budget for a DOC and especially for Cheeky Details.

Wedding Bands:
Diamond Roof – TriCounty A++++++
We went to TriCounty and I was a little overwhelmed. I don’t wear jewelry at all so I don’t really know what I like and I don’t really know prices of things. Well, I wayyyy under budgeted our wedding bands! I was kind of freaking out and no one really worked with our new increased budget until we got to Diamond Roof. We spoke with Guistina and she showed us a bunch of rings and she was so nice. Not pushy in the least bit while all the other places in TriCounty were. She said take your time you have plenty of time (we went in June!). We finally found a ring I liked a lot but it was way over our budget. She spoke with Sam who came over and he was such a sweetheart and really helped us out. I got the ring I wanted at the price I wanted and was lucky enough to deal with such nice people. We got DH’s ring through them as well and I also went back a few months later to get a watch for DH as a wedding gift. We will definitely use them again for jewelry in the future and we highly recommend them! I hear they also work wonders with custom rings.

Photobooth:
NY Digital Memories – A+++
None of our friends ever had a photobooth at their weddings so we always knew we wanted one and it was put into the budget immediately. Rob and Carly were both very nice to work with before the wedding. They have great deals every month and I knew right away I wanted them for my photobooth. DH and I honestly thought we’d have to beg people to go in the booth but boy were we wrong! The line was so long all night! It was crazy!!!! Seriously if it’s in your budget get a photobooth who doesn’t like taking silly drunk photos????? The guestbook NY Digital Memories made us was so nice and the photobooth attendant was awesome! We got frames in our package and I made cute little inserts for them which went over well.

Invitations:
Carlson Crafts – A
One of my close friends is a reseller for Carlson Crafts so we picked them out while hanging out at her house and eating sushi. Lol. I loved my invitations though and they set the theme for all of my DIY designing. They were a project to put together but totally worth it.

Tuxedos
Bell Formal – A
We went with Bell Formal because Men’s Wearhouse didn’t have the colors I wanted. It’s a family owned business and they were very nice and accommodating. Great prices and the tuxes were nice and nothing was wrong with them. My husband has been in a lot of weddings an there’s always something wrong with the tux. Either a tear or a missing pocket square but these were perfect!

Shoes:
Online – Odeon Wahite Lace Shoes http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009AW75MA/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Loved them! I originally wanted a pair of Badgley Mishkas which are similar but I couldn’t find them anywhere and I didn’t really want to spend that kind of money on shoes anyway. So I found these and they were ridiculously cheap and were as comfortable as 4 inch heals can be. They were also gorgeous and exactly what I wanted!

Dress:
RK Bridal – Casablanca Couture B053 A++

OH MY GOD I LOVE MY DRESS!!!! Lol. I really do. I wanted to wear it every day.
I tried on about 10 dresses and narrowed it down to 2 totally different ones but I knew this was my dress the second I put it on, I just had to be 100% sure. When I tried it on for the second time I knew. Our salesperson was very nice and helpful her name is Anna but she’s not there anymore. RK Bridal is great as long as you’re not into that bridal boutique feeling which I really wasn’t. It’s a bit overwhelming since there are so many dresses but that’s what’s great about it too.

Channa Plaque – A+
Channa was very nice and emailed me a million proofs before I finally picked one. And it came out great and it now displayed in our apartment.

Groomsmen gifts –
Logosportswear.com A++
It took us a while to finally decide on personalized gym bags and then once we did the place we were going to buy them from was on backorder for like 3 months! I found logosportswear.com and while they were a little more expensive the quality is amazing! DH got one too and he loves it. I wish I got one for myself. We also got the 2 best men personalized valets from personalization mall which are really nice.

Favors:
Daffyapples.com - A
Delicious! The price was perfect. We took them out of the clamshell packs and put them in cellophane bags and tie with a ribbon and fall leaf and gift tag. Very easy and cute. They were a big hit and I wish I had ordered more cause they went like hotcakes!

DIY
Card Box – I went back and forth with this but the box that I wanted was like $150 and I couldn’t justify spending that much so I decided to make it myself. I love the way it turned out and people couldn’t believe that I made it (with DH’s help of course!)

Cry Packs – This was the first DIY project took on and they came out pretty well I think
Menus – These were a labor of love and my pride and joy. I am obsessed with them!!!!

Programs – Very time consuming but very worth it. I have some great pictures of people reading them and you can totally see the emotion and amusement on their faces

TY Sign – Just a cute little framed sign that we put next to the cardbox

Apple Cider cones – I liked the hot chocolate cones that I was seeing on pinterest but they felt too wintery to me so I decided to do hot apple cider cones. I put powdered hot apple cider, caramel chips and mini nilla wafers. I made a cute little poem with instructions.

Bathroom Baskets –I am so glad I did these!!! So many people say they are unnecessary but I had like 20 people come up to me and say how nice they were and how thoughtful. So in my opinion don’t skimp on the bathroom baskets people really do appreciate them!!!! Lol

Registries:
Macy’s – C – I went to the local one in Queens Center Mall and they were just not helpful. They pretty much just handed us the gun and said go ahead. It was very uneventful
Bed Bath and Beyond (Westbury) – A+ Amazing!!!! They were so attentive and the registry saleswoman went around with us and gave us her opinion on things. They treated us like we were special which is what I had hoped for from Macy’s. It was so much fun!!!!!

Honeymoon:
Excellence Riviera Cancun A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Holy Moly!!!!!!!!!! This place was amazing! We weren’t sure what we wanted to do for our honeymoon. DH really wanted Hawaii but it just wasn’t in the budget. We were thinking Aruba but I’m not into all of the activities so it probably would have been wasted on me. One of our friends used to be a travel agent and specialized in Mexico and goes there at least twice a year now. She suggested Riviera Maya and I started doing some research. Excellence seemed to get really good reviews and it had everything we wanted. From the second we got there we were treated so nicely everyone was constantly congratulating us. The food was out of this world. We are big foodies and we were so happy. They have 8 restaurants and like 9 bars. Their room service was so delicious. I seriously gained 5 lbs that week lol. The pools were so nice, well kept and the beds and loungers were so comfortable. They had great shows every night and lots of activities during the day. The weather wasn't perfect but it wasn't terrible either. It rained at some point almost every day but it was like Florida rain where it’s over in 10 minutes and then back to being sunny. The staff was so friendly and actually remembered our names even though there were so many guests. We will definitely go back for an anniversary or 2. We highly recommend the Excellence Resorts!!!!

Re: My Amazing Wedding 11/3/13 - Watermill, Tommy's Tunes, Patken, Cheeky, Hidden Essence, NY Marriages etc.

Wow! I am so glad you gave such a terrific, detailed review!

I am ALSO getting married at 11am on a Sunday at the Watermill! Like you, I was also nervous about having a wedding so early, but your review really put my mind at ease.

I fell in love with the Watermill, too. We're so excited about getting married there, we've been going to every event that we can. We took the kids to the Toys For Tots event with Santa last night, and they had a blast!

OH, and we also went with Patkin. They're main office is in my old hometown.

So thank you for your review! I'm glad to hear that you day turned out to be so wonderful!

Congratulations!!
Thanks so much for posting the review. FH and I have Serenity & Tommy's Tunes for our wedding at East Wind.
We also have Rolling Pin with our package and were looking into going to Diamond Roof for our rings and we haven't contacted either yet.
Your review is very detailed and very helpful.
Wishing you and your DH all the best for your future together.

I have been told (by a couple different DJ`s)that it goes in the corner to the right of the doors that you walk in and the DJ or band sets up to the left of the doors.
