Our Wedding 9-5-08- Review Bourne Mansion, Duet, Burtons, Bravura, etc...

It's all over... All the reviews on here helped me so much in my planning, so here's mine to help someone else!

The Bourne Mansion-Oakdale A+++++++++++++++++++++++++
This place, the staff, the food, everything about it was perfectperfect!! Ben- very helpful in our planning and very patient with all of my questions.. Steve (our matre'd) & staff- was amazing.. he was so attentive and on top of everything..he supplied us with drinks, kept us cool, and was one step ahead of us all night!! I could not have asked for better service...

Our guests could not stop raving about the atmosphere, the service, and how excellent the food was...everyone was taken back by the ambiance and the gorgeous grounds..

Our friends and family are still raving about the bourne..I dont have one negative thing to say.. I know every bride loves their reception hall, but I really reccomend looking here if you havent booked yet... b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!!!!

Flowers by Burton- Huntington - A -
My flowers were gorgeous.. they complimented my bm dresses & my dress perfectly.. Delivery was on time, flowers were fresh & lasted...

2 small issues:
1) I asked them not to but baby's breath in my centerpieces and they did. not the end of the world.
2) I had bud vases made up for my escort cards- each vase had a yellow dahlia- some of the dahlia's were still buds- no flower - that bugged me.. Steve, our awesome matre'd, had his staff replace the dahlias with other flowers from arrangements we had around the mansion.. the fact that we had to do this bugged me.

Duet Photography & Video- Huntington- A+++++++++++++++++++
Photographers on the day of were great.. they took all the pictures that I asked them to and after that... We didnt even know they were there... The proofs are so gorgeous- we are having a hard time choosing!! Highly recommend this vendor!! Very professional, on time, and awesome photographers!!
Video- didnt get it yet... review to come.......

Bravura Entertainment - Woodbury A+++++++++++++++
Paul, Aaron, & Staff- amazing!! our guests were dancing all night..they played the perfect assortment of music which pleased everyone.. my guests are still raving about how great our dj was! Paul sang live during 'down times' and he was phenomenal..people got up while dinner was being served to dance to his songs!! The percussionist was awesome- we were able to have the benefits of having live music mixed with a dj... perfect!- had/found all the music we requested!! Definitely worth checking them out!

Sir Oliver Limousines- Ronkonkoma

Perfect! Arrived early, limo's were fully stocked, professional, courteous, I could go on & on...The cars were clean & new... great.. Highly recommend!!

My Dress- Priscilla of Boston - Roslyn Heights

My dress was the Melissa Sweet - 'Aurora' The dress was gorgeous and the alterations were perfect... only had to go back once!! Which was very convenient considering I dont live close... However, was not pleased with front desk staff.. they dont even understand their computer generated invoices- very frustrating.. My sales girl was very helpful and polite.. but once your 'sold' they really dont care.. I guess thats how it is when you work on commission. All in all, the dresses are gorgeous and the seamstresses know what they're doing... no complaints on where it really matters.

BM Dresses - Bill Levkoff - Village Bridal - Babylon
A
Dresses were great... Village Bridal was ok.. some of the girls had to go back a few times.. but they were very helpful and the prices worked... it's a nice salon..

Hair-
Nicole D'Angio - Mount Sinai
A++++++++++++
Amazing.. I had one trial with her.. that's it.. I didnt even bother checking anyone else out.. she was great.. I gave her a photo of what I wanted and she recreated it perfectly.. very professional and she came to me.. she even fixed some of my bm's hair disasters which was obvs not on her schedule.. she changed their prom hair to beautiful wedding hair.. loved her.. highly recommend!

Make-Up
Jessica Lauren Cosmetics - Greenvale

My makeup, the bm makeup was perfect.. she does great airbrush and regular.. didnt fade at all- even after a full night of dancing.. everyone looked stunning... she came all the way out to my house.. she was early and extremely professional.... great job- also highly recommend!!

Honeymoon- Costa Rica & Miami

Costa Rica was gorgeous.. we had not idea what to expect..but it was so beautiful.. we had the perfect variety of activities and lounging... had the most amazing time and we saw beautiful landscapes and wildlife... The weather was great.. beaches were breathtaking!!! LOVED IT!!
Miami- The Regent Bal Harbour- unbelievable service and gorgeous suite!!! treated like royalty,, they had a bottle of champagne and a chocolate cake waiting for us when we checked in... so romantic!!!

We got married in the beginning of September.. the site fee in 2008 was $5000- not sure if the fee went up or not.

Thanks for sharing! Your wedding looks beautiful. I'm considering Bourne in July too...can you tell how was it outside? We're worried about being too hot w/ not a lot of shade on the beautiful back grounds.
