Perfect day - June 23, 2012

Here is my review of my June 23rd wedding!

First of all, I want to say thank you to everyone on this site!!! I obtained so much great advice throughout the planning process!

St. Anthony's Church in Oceanside- A+
There was a last minute Deacon change, but everything went very smoothly. The Deacon that married us was so nice and made us feel very comfortable. We plan on attending that church from now on.

Knights of Columbus in Oceanside - A
I had written down directions for them as far as number of candles on the tables, where the card box should go, etc. and everything was executed perfectly! It was exactly what I wanted! The food was really good and they make their drinks a little strong (which is very good compared to the alternative!) There were only a few little, TINY, things that didn't even really upset me...first, the maitre de was wonderful to me and my husband, but I did overhear her get loud with my wedding party when she misheard someone regarding smoking a cigarette (she was advising them in a loud manner that there is no smoking indoors over & over again - which was not necessary since no one was or planning to smoke indoors) Also, my brother in law is a vegan and we requested a special plate made for him and his guest prior to the wedding, unfortunately they did not receive the plate until the end of the night because my brother in law did not specifically tell the ::young:: waiter he needed the vegan dish, he just said no meat or cheese...so he got a plate of steamed vegetables. Other than that, everything was PERFECT!

Zales - A+
My husband purchased my engagement ring from the Valley Stream store and I purchased his wedding band from their website. No problems at all! We love our rings!

Walmart - A+
My husband purchased my wedding band and I purchased a necklace for my mother both on their website. They have great prices and the jewelry looks amazing! The bubbles for after the ceremony were purchased from the Valley Stream store.

David's Bridal - F/A+
The F is for the David's bridal in Westbury. I went there first as it's closest to my house and the consultant was not very helpful and kept walking away while I was trying on a dress, also she seemed agitated that I wanted to try on more than one dress - I left there very quickly! The A+ is for the David's Bridal in Massapequa. I decided to try a different store since all the dresses I liked online were from David's. My dress and veil I purchased here, and my bridesmaids and flower girls dresses were also purchased here. All of the dresses came in very early and the alterations were a breeze. The invitations, signature frame and garter belt were purchased through their website and everything shipped quickly and was perfect!

Shoe Elegance in Lynbrook - A+
I came to this store due to a friend's recommendation, and I'm so happy I did! The owner is such a pleasant man and he was very patient with me as I am very picky with shoes. I found the perfect pair and he even offered to dye them for free after the wedding!

Barrons's in Levittown (Tri-County) - A
I purchased my headpiece here. I saw many different pieces elsewhere that were extremely expensive! I found a beautiful piece here that was much nicer and bigger than others I saw and much cheaper! Only problem that I have is 2 of the stones came off during the wedding (but you can't even tell!)

Macy's - A+
I purchased my earrings and necklace from their website. I am very picky with jewelry and I wanted something sparkly but simple. I found a set by B. Brilliant that I fell in love with and luckily, it was on sale half off! It was delivered very quickly.

Men's Warehouse (multiple locations) - A+
The men all ordered their tuxes from here. No one had any problems at all. Two of the tuxes were the wrong size, but the problem was fixed very quickly. (I was very nervous about the guys getting them here due to all the bad reviews I read, but they were wonderful with us)

Carizma Limousines in Elmont - A+
The limos were the last thing I booked. I wanted something simple, a black stretch and a white stretch. We had the best drivers, very professional. The limos were cleaned and fully stocked. They arrived early as well. A town car picked me and my husband up at the end of the night. I couldn't have been happier with them!

Fade to Black in Mineola - A+
I could not be happier with Fade to Black. The engagement shoot was great and the day-of was fantastic. Jodi was our photographer and Gil, the videographer. We also had 2 extra men there using new cameras they obtained. They were not in your face, you barely knew they were there the whole night! I haven't gotten my pics back yet, but I'm sure they are amazing!

Signature Sounds in Oceanside - A
This is a vendor that was recommended by the hall. My husband and I met with Ben twice before the wedding. He is very professional and made us very confident in our decision to hire him. The day-of was great! The dance floor was full the entire night (except during dinner of course!) The only issue I had was that my husband requested a few songs and he played them back to back in the beginning instead of spreading them throughout the night like my husband thought he would. Also, we wanted to get all the special dances out of the way in the beginning of the night, instead he did the parent dances after cake, which ended up working out perfectly anyway.

Creative Florist in Island Park - A+
Another vendor recommended by the hall. AMAZING!!! If you still need a florist, HIRE DORIS!!! I loved working with Doris. She shared my vision with the flowers from the beginning. She knew exactly what I wanted and executed it perfectly! The flowers were absolutely beautiful and they were delivered early! Her prices are also great! I for now on will only work with her for my florist needs!

Whistle Stop in Oceanside - A+
I have grown up loving whistle stop cheesecake - the BEST in NY! So, I was very excited to find out they are the house baker for the hall. I worked with Megan on my cake design. I never met her in person, only talked to her over the phone and through e-mail. When I saw my cake at the wedding, I was shocked! It was exactly what my husband and I wanted!!! AND DELICIOUS!!!!

IttyBittyWoodShoppe (Etsy.com) - A
I ordered my custom cake topper from this vendor. They did a wonderful job and everyone commented on it! The only issue I had was that it too so long to actually get the topper! I ordered it in January and due to the fact that they make the pieces according to wedding date, I ended up receiving it the week before my wedding.

LCDDeStash (Etsy.com) - A+
I had originally purchased material to create a custom card box, but then changed my mind on the idea. I looked on Etsy.com and found this vendor. It was a kit, all you had to do was paint the box and hot glue it together. It was very easy and the kit came very quickly. I loved my card box!

My-sweet-memories.com - A+
I ordered two plaques from Channa, one for my husband and I; and one for my parents. They came very quickly and are perfect! Channa is wonderful to work with!

Quick Candles (Amazon.com) - A+
I ordered about 80 frosted candle holders and candles from this seller. The candles came very quick and no problems whatsoever!

Favors - A+
I purchased simple wine glasses from the local dollar store and we had a family friend wrap them in tulle and ribbon for us.

Shear Dimensions in Valley Stream - A+
I have gone to Annette in the past for haircuts and dye jobs. She has always been wonderful. The day of my wedding was no exception! Annette and Eva were the stylists that I booked and I was very pleased. Everyones hair looked beautiful and the styles lasted all night!!! And their prices were wonderful!

Tori Wildeman in Floral Park - A+
One of my bridesmaids put me in contact with Tori. I was blown away at how great I looked for the trial, that I booked her on the spot. She is a little pricier than other makeup artists I contacted, but WELL WORTH IT! All of the girls looked great and the makeup lasted all night! (She does airbrush) She also gave me the lipstick she used to keep!

Alias, Smith and Jones in Oceanside - A+
We had the rehearsal dinner here since it was literally down the block from the church. We had a private room and the food and service was amazing! I recommend their french onion soup - I do not like onions, but I ate every last drop of that soup!

Gifts for our parents and party:
We ordered the gifts for the groomsmen (pilsner glasses) and the mothers (water globes) from Things Remembered in Valley Stream. They have an amazing selection and are priced really well and the employees were very helpful. A+ for Things Remembered! The bridesmaids and flower girls received jewelry that a family friend made. I made all the bridesmaids a personalized CD and gave them a picture of us in a frame. I also hand embroidered a handkerchief for my father.

Norwegian Cruise Line - A+
We took a cruise for our honeymoon leaving from NY and had stops in FL and the Bahamas. We had such a great time! There is something for everyone and the staff is really nice and accommodating! We are already in talks for our next cruise! We got to swim with dolphins during a shore excursion in the Bahamas and it was amazing! Anyone having trouble planning a honeymoon, definitely check out NCL, we had a great time!

I hope I was able to include all of my vendors!! I had a really wonderful experience planning our wedding and overall, the day was perfect! I know my review was long and I will post pictures soon, so, THANKS FOR READING!!! =)

Im getting Married in Dec so an outdoor wedding is out! Too much snow. But the perfect wedding would be outdoors in the fall with lots of mossy oak hunting camo accents! But our Christmas wedding with red roses will be amazing too!
