What a unique and gorgeous wedding!!!!

Grand Prospect was the FIRST place I looked at for the wedding. When the BM opened the doors to the main ballroom, I was floored. We ended up booking elsewhere, but that ballroom made such an impression.

Get permission to use your wedding video highlight in schools

Hello Laura,

How are you? This email is from Michael Zhu, your wedding videographer. I am very glad to read your article here. There is one thing I want to get your help.
Chuck DeLaney, the Director of New York Institute of Photography and Sheffield School, called me on Monday. He asked me if he can use some of my wedding video samples in his school education. For detail, please read his email in the following.

Because he mentioned your wedding video highlight (not the whole wedding video) in his list, I would like to ask your permission to allow him to use your wedding video highlight in his school. As return, he wrote on his email: “Let the couples know that we'll be happy to provide them with a copy if they like after we complete the commentary.”

If it’s OK with you, please let me know as soon as possible. My email address is [email protected]. Then, I’ll make a DVD copy and mail it to him. I am very glad that his schools can use your beautiful wedding video highlight in their instructional media.

Dear Michael,

Thanks for your time on the telephone this afternoon. I know you weren't expecting a call of this nature. To recap:

We operate two schools - the New York Institute of Photography (www.nyip.com) and the Sheffield School (www.sheffield.edu). We have just begun a soft launch of a new program in Wedding and Event Planning under the Sheffield brand and we're exploring ways to add some commentary on wedding and reception activities and customs. We would like to do this using video excerpts from some of the video highlights that you've posted on your web site. I think your work is particularly well suited because of its overall quality, the diversity of the different weddings you've taped, and the variety of production techniques and budgets that I've seen in reviewing your work.

We would use the video material as you supply it to us with no additional editing so your presentation would remain intact. We would supress all or most of the soundtrack so that our wedding planning experts can record audio voice-over that would explain what's happening in the various aspects of different pre-ceremony, ceremony, and reception activities, as well as commenting on wedding dress, flowers and other arrangements that are part of the planning process. We would not reproduce any music that might be subject to rights issues.

Our commentary voice-over would be an analysis of the wedding, not the style of the videographer, although we might point out certain interesting effects, such as a switch from black-and-white to color. We would be discussing principally the wedding, not the video.

If you are interested in participating with us, we will supply you with a list of items that we would like to use and you would supply us with the necessary footage. We would duplicate your material (with our voiceover) for distribution to our students on DVD. We would use this material only in conjunction with distribution to students in the Wedding and Event Planning Course. We would only use your material for promotion purposes with your permission, crediting forever-video.com at all times.

I would also stress that the purpose of this commentary will be to educate the viewer, and we do that with positive commentary. We're out to show customs and traditions, not to make fun of a strange wedding dress or anything of that sort. Let the couples know that we'll be happy to provide them with a copy if they like after we complete the commentary.
