Re: NOVEMBER 1 REVIEW: MILLERIDGE COTTAGE ADDED PROOFS!!!

Jenn, I recall that crazy/warm weekend last year and know that the chances of MY November 2004 wedding being that warm are nill, as it's Nov. 28th, but the charm of the Milleridge Cottage and atrium will keep us warm (not to mention that great fireplace!) Thanks for making me feel better about our choice. My concern, being Italian-American and having to please pasta & shellfish lovers, is the food. At their open house, I thought the clams were tough and wondered if the fare would be ideal. Food and music is what's remembered after the wedding, normally, yes? Enjoy your life together!

Why did you not go w/ the Milleridge bakers for your cake? Did you have a bad experience or you weren't thrilled w/ their choices? Thanks.

I did use the Milleridge bakers for my wedding cake They made my cake from a picture. It didn't come up quite as good as I thought it would, but I was still happy with it.

I used Hey!Cookie for my groom's cake.

Here's what my cake was supposed to be and what it came out like...

Re: NOVEMBER 1 REVIEW: MILLERIDGE COTTAGE ADDED PROOFS!!!

That's a pretty decent replica. Questions (if you don't mind a-answerin') - was the entire exterior fondant? We tried a small cake from the bakery w/ fondant outside and thought it too much b/c it is a unique substance - very chewy. Secondly, is a Groom's cake a traditional thing or something new? I'd never heard of this! Cake pulls are also new to me. What a Brave New World I'm entering into, this wedding planning thang...
By the way, you and your maids are gorgeous! I'm also using cala lilies, btw. Yum.

Thank you so much! I loved the cala lilies, I'm sure you'll love them too!

I agree, the cake was decent...I wasn't disappointed just expecting a little more I guess. I'm not positive about the cake, but I think only the leaves were fondant icing.

The groom's cake is a southern tradition, but somehow it made it to NY. I only heard about it being on these sites. It's traditionally a chocolate cake, not sure of the reasoning. I surprised DH with it at our rehearsal dinner, and everyone loved it! It was another way to bring something unique to our wedding.

Good luck with all of your planning. If you have questions, I'm here
