Blonde bombshell JESSICA SIMPSON showed off a sassy new look over the weekend at the star-studded ALMA awards. She had smoldering, red hair! Our own KEVIN FRAZIER was with the A-lister to get the star scoop!

'It's a wig!' she told Kevin on the red carpet. 'I put eyeshadow on the blonde to hide it.'

In fact, the wig is part of Jessica's new hairpiece line coming out soon, as reported by 'The Insider''s own MARC MALKIN on March 21.

Jessica also debunked those baby adoption rumors, saying, 'I'm not adopting a child! No, not yet. [But] that's not a silly matter. I support an orphanage in Mexico and I've supported it ever since I was 13 years old. That's where all those rumors came from. I haven't been down in a couple years but I'm making a trip pretty soon actually.'

I completely agree.....a lot of people adopt children from all over the world....what makes her so special...she's probably doing it to get more attention..

'American Idol' finalist Kellie Pickler got a hometown welcome Saturday, one full of tearful twists and an anthem to independence.

Pickler rode in a red 1968 Ford Mustang during a 20-minute parade, followed by speeches on a stage erected in the town center where thousands wore pink, purple, green and yellow Pickler T-shirts.

'It looks like a bag of Skittles poured on Albemarle,' said Pickler, 19. 'I couldn't have come from a better hometown.'

Sharing the stage were her two grandfathers, Clyde Pickler and Ken Morton. Also there were her father, Clyde 'Bo' Pickler Jr., and her half-brother, Eric, 5.

She was reunited with her father late last week after he was released from Florida State Prison. He served time for stabbing a man about three years ago and trying to run down pursuing police.


'Throughout my 19 years, I've had my ups and downs,' Pickler admitted onstage when she turned her focus to her father.

'I know a lot of people would think I'd have a lot of resentment toward this person, and I don't. I feel blessed to have him back into my life.'

And then, addressing the crowd, she said, 'I've been prayerful when this person came back to Albemarle, he'd be given a second chance. We all make mistakes and we all learn from them.'

With her voice cracking, she turned to her father and said, 'I love you. And am so glad to have you back in my life.'

Bo Pickler stood and hugged his daughter, lifting her off the floor for 30 seconds, then dried his eyes when he sat back down.

She sings anyway

Pickler thanked the crowd for supporting her and apologized if she'd embarrassed anyone with her rural orientation -- an ignorance of calamari, pronouncing 'salmon' without a silent 'L,' her surprise about spinach salad.At that, the crowd began hooting for a song.

'American Idol' producers, who keep contestants in close check during and immediately after their show appearances, don't want the singers to perform outside the 'Idol' matrix. Producers ruled out Pickler singing even the national anthem at Saturday's ceremony.

Pickler weighed the pros and cons for a minute, then made up her mind.

'I'm going to get in so much trouble for this,' she said, 'but what are they going to do -- kick me off the show?'

With that, she cleared her throat and belted out 'The Star-Spangled Banner' so powerfully, it was audible for blocks.

Busy months ahead

Pickler gave Albemarle a flash of Hollywood, appearing in the knee-high boots she'd worn for the 'American Idol' episode focusing on the music of Queen, black jeans, a low-cut blouse and her hair cut back into a bob.

Pickler plans to go to Nashville, Tenn., next week, to meet with music producers. She will return to Los Angeles later this month for rehearsals and the finale of 'American Idol.'

Then she joins the other top 10 vocalists from the show for a national tour, which reaches Charlotte on Aug. 1 and will include the other two North Carolinians in the top 10 -- Chris Daughtry of McLeansville and Bucky Covington of Rockingham.

Bucky Covington's day, too

Forty miles southeast of Albemarle, Covington was honored by his hometown on Saturday, too.

About 5,000 people, estimated event coordinator Kim Williams, came to the 'Bucky Bash' in Rockingham's business district.

Covington's twin brother, Rocky, was among the performers, and Bucky joined him onstage, though he didn't sing.

He posed for pictures, signed autographs and met fans for hours.

Nicole Kidman Still Loves Tom Cruise

Australian actress Nicole Kidman has revealed that she still loves her ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Kidman who was married to Cruise for 10 years made the emotional comments while speaking to Ladies Home Journal magazine.

She reportedly said:

'He was huge; still is. To me, he was just Tom, this lovely man, but to everybody else, he is huge. But he was lovely to me.

'And I loved him. I still love him.'

Kidman is currently dating country music star Keith Urban whom she is rumored to be getting married to sometime soon.

Tom Cruise is engaged to actress Katie Holmes; they have just celebrated the birth of their baby daughter Suri Cruise…what Nicole thinks about little Suri is anyone’s guess.

Earlier, a baby shower was thrown in Stefani's honor (the second this month) at the home of their dining companion, Giant Records chairman Irving Azoff.

Dean McDermott's Ex-Wife Blasts Him & Tori

Not everyone is sending congratulatory wishes to Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott, who were married Sunday on a private tropical island in Fiji.

McDermott's ex-wife, Toronto TV personality Mary Jo Eustace – who was wed to the actor for 12 years and has a 7-year-old son and 10-month-old adopted daughter with him – is being very vocal about her disapproval of the union.

'It all could have been done so different,' Eustace tells Toronto's Globe & Mail newspaper. 'Right from the beginning, it was all about them. I confronted him once and said, 'Do you know how (all this publicity) makes me and my family feel? Do not do this.' He was like, 'I did not even look at it that way.''

Particularly upsetting to Eustace was the new groom's comment to PEOPLE at his wedding last weekend. He said: 'I've never had as much of a desire to get married and make a woman my wife as I've had with her. The feeling is overwhelming. We're soul mates.'

Eustace, 44, considers the remark to be 'the final nail.'

Spelling, 32, and McDermott, 39, met last summer in Ottawa while filming the TV movie Mind Over Murder. At the time, the former Beverly Hills 90210 star was wed to actor-writer Charlie Shanian, and McDermott was still with Eustace.

Eustace, referring to Brad Pitt's relationship with Angelina Jolie, which started shortly after his split from Jennifer Aniston, says: 'I have a great deal of empathy for Jennifer Aniston. She said I'm not going to be defined by this situation and this relationship. If you allow yourself to reside in that place, you won't be able to function.'

Eustace does say that McDermott did let her know that he and Spelling were getting married – once she inquired after the fact. 'Logistically, because I had to take care of my son, I asked him point-blank. I didn't want any more surprises,' says Eustace, adding that her ex advised her of his upcoming tropical wedding two weeks ahead of time.

Eustace now is taking any lingering resentment and putting together a memoir. 'The past year was a nightmare, but it was also funny,' she says. 'I have to have a lot of humor about it. I have to embrace that side of it or I'd dis-empower myself.'

When news of the book was first reported, Spelling and McDermott told the New York Post: 'It's opportunistic and undignified that she would want to exploit her former marriage for monetary gain. We only wish her the very best.'

As for the contents of the prospective book, Eustace says that among other things, she’ll write about 'the meltdown I had at the driver's license bureau because I'd missed my appointment. I started to cry and told the guy my husband had left me for Tori Spelling. He let me take my test … So, see, it has an upside too.'

Sir Paul McCartney's wife Heather has denied rumors of a marriage crisis. The former model has furiously dismissed reports she and the Beatles legend were living separately.

She told Britain's The Sun newspaper: 'It's hilarious. Paul and I are very much together.' The couple are reported to have spent five days apart after a heated row argument. One friend said: 'Heather and Paul have had a couple of disagreements when she has felt people only see her as the wife of a Beatle.'

Heather, 38, insists Paul, 63, was recording in London while she recovered from a leg operation at home in Hove, East Sussex. Brave Heather underwent painful surgery to reattach muscle tissue on her part-amputated left leg three weeks ago and she has decided to 'keep undercover' until she can walk properly again. The couple wed in 2002 and have a two-year-old daughter Beatrice.

Last week, it emerged that Heather plans to return to the catwalk and has joined Zone, the fashion and VIP division of MOT models.

Ashlee Simpson performed at the Sunfest Concert over the weekend with her brand new nose. While most singers avoid nose work because it might interfere with their singing, Ashlee Simpson said pfft to that and went for it anyway, getting the small bump on her nose removed. Now all she needs is to paint herself orange, put on a wig, and hang weights off her nipples so she can challege Jessica for the title of sexiest orange Simpson ever. Although I think that might already belong to OJ.

Tori Spelling got married to Dean McDermott in a private ceremony in Fiji over the weekend, but sources are now saying that Spelling might be pregnant. She was spotted shopping for baby stuff at Petit Tresor, and a source says:

“She was looking at things like cribs in a way that made it pretty clear that she wasn’t just looking to buy things for someone else,” says the source. And another insider says, “Yeah, she’s pregnant. She’s several months along now, I believe.”
When called for comment, a rep laughed, saying, “I have no idea. I thought you were going to ask me if she’s really married or not - and I haven’t even been able to find that out.”
