Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

Can someone please settle an argument I am having with my mother? I don't really remember, but she insists that the tables in the Garden Suite were more oblong than round. I didn't look that closely at the shape of the tables, but I thought they were the typical round tables. We're arguing about this because of the centerpieces and she says that I have to have CPs that are a little longer (or wider or whatever) than usual because the tables are oblong. Normally I wouldn't pay any attention to her opinion on the matter, since the last thing we agreed on about this wedding was the WCC, but she was a florist for many years, so unfortunately, she's got some professional words of wisdom to impart.

Can someone please put an end to this argument for me? I'll graciously accept whatever the answer is, I promise!

Jann, I would have to say that I agree with you. I actually do not like oblong tables so I was paying attention to the tables. They are round!!

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

Thank you, ladies! I didn't remember them being anything other than round although my mother was adamant about it.

Hey, has anyone decided what color linens they're using? I'm leaning towards the white and gold because of the ivory and gold in my dress and I'm trying to tie the gold into various other areas without being too overbearing.

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

Eh, it's so far down on the list of things to worry about. I just get something in my head and it gets stuck there. I was thinking about the tables and it just naturally flowed from there. Don't worry about it yet. They'll let you know when you need to pick it.

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

Gotcha.. even though I shouldn't be thinking about this right now... I guess some shade of purple since that's the color of my bridesmaid dresses?

Is that how you should pick out the linens? By the color of the girls dresses??

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

I think the only colors they had were white, gold, and burgandy. Not too many choices. I would do it based on the colors in the room and the flowers you choose.

LOL! Me neither! Maybe I'm wrong. Too many little things to keep track of. I'm lucky if I remember my name half the time.

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

Hey ladies! The tables will depend on how many guests you have sitting at them. For my wedding we had to use a mixture of both round and oval, I was nervous at first on how the room looked, but it wasnt bad at all. Tables up to 13 will be round, which was a tight squeeze, above 14 you would have to use the oval.

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

my sister was married there last october...let me know if you have any questions

Posted by jannshari

Question for the other WCC brides: have you all thought about where you're going to have your pictures done if it's raining? I really want to take outdoor pics because the grounds are so beautiful, but I worry about the ability to take pics if it's lousy outside. ?

it POURED for my sisters wedding...so they did mostly indoor pictures (WCC was EXTREMELY accomodating)...but we took pictures outside...under the awning where the valet is (before people came) so we were dry...but we got some outside shots of the front landscaping...

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

This is all such great and helpful info. One of the reasons we chose WCC was because it had a pretty inside where we could take pictures if it rained.

I was told that you had a choice of ivory, gold or burgendy (sp?) linens. I have no idea which to choose. We have time to decide on that I guess.

Are any of you guys using the any of the house florists?

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

I'm going to look at Jack and Rose and probably Flowers by Matthew. I think Fleur de Florissima is very expensive and, as my mother was in the business for many years, all I know Spitz & Peck by is Schvitz & Dreck! (which is not to say that they don't do a good job, so no one should get offended).

I don't like how the quote they gave us said that we must use one of their house florists, yet they told me that it wasn't the case when I went there. I don't need them giving me crap if I choose another florist.

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

We used Jack & Rose, which is right up the road from WCC. There are a lot of great reviews on this forum about them.
I think they really did an excellent job! And I got so many compliments on my flowers.

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

I need another clarification, ladies. For the cocktail hour, am I correct in remembering that the caviar and vodka station is standard? Also, did anyone have any trouble with them adding anything to the contract? When I sat down to sign the contract, I must have asked questions for about an hour beforehand and was assured that everything that I was told then would be honored, but that they 'couldn't make any changes to the contract.' That bothered me (especially after he tried to explain to me that a contract is a binding agreement, blah blah blah...um, yes, I'm aware what a contract is, I'm a lawyer), but is that their standard practice? I know that WCC is always accommodating and no one has ever complained about them on here that I know of, but it is a concern of mine.

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

I think the vodka and caviar bar is standard. I have heard about it from a few different people.

I also asked Chad (my sales guy at the time who has since left) to add a few things to the contract and he said he couldn't. He said everything would be honored. When my dad went to make a payment last week, he asked again about getting there at 9am for pictures. He said Chad said it was ok but he is no longer there and I was concerned because it was not on my contract. They told him it was not a problem, not to worry. My dad said they have a great reputation and that he trusts they will honor it.

I also found out that you do not HAVE to use one of the house florists. If you don't, you just have to get a copy of their insurance certificate for WCC. They have had problems with florists in the past ruining some of their property so they prefer you to use one of thier florists. I got something in the mail that had to be completed if I was not going to use a house florist.

Re: The Official Woodbury Country Club Thread

I am using Jack and Rose and he 'threw in' a bunch of stuff because he is located across the street and is a house vendor. I also liked Flowers by Matthew.
