We'd get a snow day if it was really bad.

FH is actually taking the day (he has to use some vaca time) so if it's really bad (we usually drive in together when the weather is bad), and we're not closed, I'd just work from home.

Working in Manhattan makes it tough during bad weather because a lot of people who work there also live there, and since they can make it to work in 8 inches of snow, why shouldn’t everyone else (at least that seems to be what the big bosses here are thinking).

My boss always tells me that the office would not close completely unless we got a foot. If we get 6-8 inches, it’s not that unreasonable for the non-Manhattan living commuters to call in sick. So, here’s hoping for 2 feet, just to be on the safe side!

I live and work in NYC. Plus, I work in the bar industry and we really don't close for anything. People are always willing to drink and listen to some music.

Unfortunately, yes. Our agency doesn't close for snow. If we cannot make it to work...due to inclement weather, we have to take a personal or sick day.

I told Gianna this morning to cross her fingers and toes and pray that it snows so mommy can stay home with her!!!

I'm praying it snows for the first time in my life!!! I didn't go in last week when it snowed because I told them I froze my butt off waiting for a bus. Sshhhh!!!

depends on situation. my firm is open 24/7 and yes the lawyers do go in. they did for every other snow storm. but if metro north and buses not running. i'm staying put.

Yes, my company doesn't close unless the building has been ripped away in a tornado or something similiar to that!

I drive to work, and now that I live out in the middle of nowhere, I get stuck until the roads are clear. The beauty of working at an internet company is that my work PC is a laptop, so I will be taking it with me tonight and tomorrow. In case of snow, I will work from home.

When I worked in NYC, I always went in, even in a lot of snow. I dont know why, I never even got a thank you from my jerky bosses...maybe b/c they never came in themselves!

I'm with you, ... working in Manhattan just gives you next-to-no excuse NOT to show up. Doesn't matter that all the trains are already screwed up, and that we'll be killing ourselves to get to work in the 1st place.. the Manhattan residents make it tough for us commuters!

Maybe. My firm is a few blocks away from one of the courts. If that court is closed, so is the office. But, like today, it snowed, the court is closed and here I am The thing is I have to keep up with the work, so I ususally come in for a few hours at least, but if I don't come in at all, it is no big deal to my bosses. By now almost all of the attorneys are here, but none of the staff.

If I can get out of my neighborhood by early afternoon, I'll come in. And Wednesday I have a deposition, so I will at least need to go to that.
