Meeting with photographers - what to ask?

Thank you to everyone who posted their photographer recommendations. Now that I have the appointments set up, I dont even know what I'm supposed to ask for in terms of what kind of package we want.

Would you all mind posting what your package includes? And any questions I should ask?

I just want to make sure I'm getting the best 'package' for my $.

Thanks!

Re: Meeting with photographers - what to ask?

Defintely get the specifice.

HOw many proofs guaranteed?
How many photgraphers for the day?
Epics included(if you care about epics)?
Do you get the negatives?
How soon will it be ready?

I am sure the other ladies will have tons more.

Re: Meeting with photographers - what to ask?

Do you get the negatives? When? How much, or are they included in the price?

Do they have backup equipment?

Insurance?

Will you feed them?

What's the cancellation policy?

Specify what you're getting, when the payment is due and what time the photographer needs to be where. Add addresses if you can.

Re: Meeting with photographers - what to ask?

So far I have appts with Silverfox, Brett Michaels and Visual Image. I still have to call Duet, Perceptions, Mark Kauffman and I think a few more.

Re: Meeting with photographers - what to ask?

whoa...all the places you name are great.. Duet is a great vaule for the price

I was just at preceptions and though it was over priced for there work. it is great but i didn't like any prices. they shot primarally photojorunalist. you can hire a second posed photographer

never been to the others but i see there names bounce around here.

I went to Patken...i love DOUG!! If you go to Patken, see Doug and check out the SOHO book.

Good luck

Re: Meeting with photographers - what to ask?

Make sure you put in there if you want the photographer to take pictures of you as you are getting ready. Why? Because it may involve going to different locations and if you don't specify, they may try and charge you extra.

Re: Meeting with photographers - what to ask?

Spent A LOT of time on this issue. My advice: ask questions (most listed here) and MORE questions! I think it boils down to 3 very important factors;

1) do you like their work?
2) does their price fit your budget?
3) do you like the people/company and what they represent?

My photographer said one very good thing to me that stuck: they are the one vendor around AFTER the wedding...your doing thank you cards, albums, videos, etc...you'd better like them and feel comfortable! I think the companies mentioned have ALL been mentioned enough here and on other sites to warrant looking into. Then let your gut decide! Best Wishes!

ps-we used Silverfox!

Re: Meeting with photographers - what to ask?

Hi there, I don't remember if I gave my rec for a photog but we are using 'Fine Art.' Jimmy the owner is really great; very personal and we are getting a lot.
