My Bear Cub is 5 mos. today!! It's bittersweet...

Where has the time gone? It seems like yesterday she was still in my belly, let alone just born!!!! Every day is a joy and she makes me smile so much, especially these days when there's not much to smile about with my dad.

I haven't been on much lately because of what's going on with my dad. It's a bittersweet time for me -- my baby is growing and my father is dying. I can't believe I just wrote that, but unfortunately, it's really happening. I won't come right out and tell my mother or sister that, but we all know it's true. He is at the end stages of heart disease and his heart is so weak from all the heart attacks, etc, that there's nothing left for them to do for him anymore -- or they won't try because it's so weak. And his kidneys are failing because of it.

He's been in the hospital since Dec. 10, was in rehab for all of 3 weeks, and right back to the hospital again. Yesterday they moved him to CCU and he's going to be there awhile. He hasn't seen Gianna since her christening and she's grown so much and does so much now. It kills me that my father isn't seeing his figlia mia's figlia mia grow! He's missing his Gigi.

I'm grateful that he was there to walk me down the aisle and to see Gianna, but I'm selfish and want him to be around to see her grow up.

On a happy note -- I can't wait to see how much the little gavone weighs and how long she is!! She's starting to bust out of some of these clothes!!!

She is truly the joy of my life, especially these days. Coming home from the hospital and seeing that happy smiling face (even though she's sticking her tongue out at me ) is the best thing I could ask for!!!! I just wish my father could share it with me!

You have a lot to celebrate Deb. You have a beautiful, happy, wonderful daughter. I'm glad that your dad has at least had the opportunity to meet her and even though things look bleak it's possible he can still see her again. Here's hoping for good things. Stay strong Deb!!! My BF' father just passed this Christmas and I know how hard is was for her.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad, you sound positive even through this very negative situation and I am so proud of the way you are handeling things. You are strong girl and you just keep doing what your doing and I will say a pray for you and your family.

Deb, in everything there is some joy, even in your pain there is some joy. I wish you and your family all the best as you all deal with your dad. Not that your daughter can replace your dad but God giveth and he taketh away, so even tho your family is losing someone, someone else has come to keep the family line going. Look at both sides of the coin.

Deb I'm so sorry about your Dad...I won't even pretend to imagine what you are feeling but you are handling things so well...

I'm glad Gianna is doing so well, your little bear cub is the joy of your life and it's great that your Dad got to see her at least! I can't wait to hear how big she is getting!! More to you both!!

I am so sorry that your Dad is not doing well. I can't imagine your worry and saddness :hug The circle of life can be comforting in some ways and unsettling in others. Try to focus on Gianna and her incredible smiles and know that whatever happens, we are all here to support you!

It must be so hard for you, to be so happy and so sad at the same time... Rejoicing one new beginning in your life (mommyhood) and reminiscing the wonderful memories with your father... Im getting tears in my eyes as I type this... When you wrote "his figlia mia's figlia mia" it choked me up completely...
My father is like that with us too.. he always touches my faces and says "bambina mia"
There are no words that are going to make you feel better, but just know that we are all here for you.
Youre such a strong mommy, daughter, and wife.
It's amazing how God gives us one thing and takes another away...
Im sending lots of hugs and prayers to your dad...
Know that he will always be with you and your family, in your hearts.

God Bless your precious Gianna. She has a smile that can light up a room, and I guarantee it, there will be ways she has (even if its a smile or a habit) that will remind you of your dad in years to come. I found that when something like this happened to my family (grandma passed away, and a special baby came into our lives...)

Deb - thinking of you and your family. Your father is lucky to have such a wonderfully devoted and loving daughter. He must be so proud of you and the parent you have become. What a legacy he will leave. Gianna is a precious gift, the reflection of your dad's love for you. Enjoy every second of her amazing life - I am sure that is what your dad would hope for.
