Help me find an Engagement party dress

I'm at the end of my rope! I am looking for a dress for my engagment party on 5/16. I want on that's white and I found this silk one at Jcrew which i love but it's out of stock until 5/24
That one was $180 which is really pushing the limits of my budget..
It's a dinner party so floor length is too much.. I guess I want a cocktail length dress.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Help please

By the way... the first one is only $130 from the Commack Wedding Center and $106 from netbride.com. Hurry up though it takes a few weeks to come in.

I went there on Saturday- what a scene! Unfortuantly I couldn't find anything there. Most of the dresses were floor length.

julz33- I like the 1st and 2nd... I'm unsure about me wearing a strapless.... I have a fear of "popping out". I'm goign to try it though because i do like the look.. maybe I can have straps sewn on... Thanks!

I would try Lord & Taylor. They always have amazing dresses. Also, if you find something you like and they don't have it at that store, they can mail it toyou from another store!

I saw a very similar dress in Ann Taylor. I was looking for a dress for a wedding I'm going to in May and tried this one on. It's actually a LOT lighter than it looks in the picture. I had to decide against it because it almost looked white.

Lord and taylor in huntington mall has a ton of dresses. I would try there!! There's a very casual white dress in banana republic with a green bow around the waste. It was one of my choices for my e-party but i didnt' decided on my other choice.

Where is your e-party???? i couldn't find a place that was available at night???

I am going to order Julz33's BM dress in Lilac for my engagement party. I decided to get on it after reading your post. I work on Avenue of the Americas and there is an Ann Taylor Loft nearby and I went in today and saw the prettiest dresses there. FM me if you need anything else.

I'm losing it now. I went to Anne Taylor today, the one dress I liked didn't fit right. I went to Anne Taylor Loft yesterday and couldn't find anything appropriate.
I looked into a couple of the bridesmaid dresses you girls suggested but unfortunately they take 8-10 weeks as a rush delievery and my engagment party is about 5 weeks away.
I just ordered this dress from Banana Republic and I'm crossing my fingers and toes that it fits right. I've been to Bloomingdales,Macys, Lord and Taylor, JC Penny, Sears,Jcrew, Anne Taylor and probably more. Now I'm getting depressed. If you girls have any more suggestions I'm all ears.

If you want to see if the dress fits, they have that one is black in the banana in huntington! I wish i had more places for you to look

I'm not sure which Bloomingdales you tried but, the Bloomingdales in NYC (60th and Lex) has a MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger and better selection...they have so many cute dresses there. I haven't been there recently though, but, usually, I can always find something...has anyone been there?

Also, saks also has a good selection as well.

In LI, I can always find cute dresses at ABS in wheatley plaza.

If the Banana Republic dress fits almost, but not quite when it comes you may be able to have it altered quickly at a dry cleaners, if you don't find anything in the meantime.

Well, I've officially lost my mind. I stayed up last night searching the internet for dresses and I ordered 4 total. I can't believe how many dresses where back ordered!
I really like the 1st one (Ann Taylor) but its linen so its kinda wrinkly. I know I'll have to pay for return shipping put at this point its better than driving myself nuts at the mall.

I bought mine at Macys they have a lot...look in the Junior section aside from the regular dress area..they have good selection
