So, what do ya think? Just fill up tables of 10 as the RSVPs arrive?
So, what's the big deal if no one really knows anyone at the tables?Imagine how easy it would be to just take the RSVPs in order of arrival and start filling up the seating chart...

Re: So, what do ya think? Just fill up tables of 10 as the RSVPs arrive?
I wish it was that easy! I only have about 75 people to seat...and it's been a problem...I don't envy those of you with 150, 200, or even 300 people!

Ohhh and just wait until 1/2 of your guests tell you that they can't sit with someone else -
I WISH we could do that

Don't laugh - my brother got married in MA and he had open seating. It was actually very nice - smaller tables of four or six people - and it worked out very nicely. I wish we could do that with our ten or twelve person tables - would remove a lot of stress.

Re: So, what do ya think? Just fill up tables of 10 as the RSVPs arrive?
And of course you can give the people who RSVP the best tables.I have an uncle who is so mean to everyone (has told many, many people they are fat just for the fun of it)
I am always offering incentives to guests (who all hate him) so they won't have to sit with him.
I will tell people that the last people to RSVP sit with him!
Trust me - it's one incentive that everyone will go for!!!

I have to agree 100%
I have family members that don't speak to each other and my FI has the same issue so we started doing our seating arrangements and have people who are not speaking on opposite ends of the room
It is the biggest PITA!

Re: So, what do ya think? Just fill up tables of 10 as the RSVPs arrive?
I had a cousin come up to me and say they put up with so and so (a cousin on the other side of my family) for long enough and don't want to sit with her at the table at the wedding.First off the 'so and so' is an 80 year old lady that has more spunk than I do in my pinky.
She's had 2 heart attacks and is still going strong.
She called me every day when I was sick. Came to see me once (took buses and trains to get there too). My cousin called once, my aunt twice and my other cousin not at all.
Granted she is loud and can be annoying at times...like she kept telling everyone the bartending at my shower was flirting with her and she was taking him home...
But I got so mad I want to sit my lame cousins with her now. Just to spite them. Personally I would not want to sit with my image conscious cousins.
Hmpf.

Re: So, what do ya think? Just fill up tables of 10 as the RSVPs arrive?
i think that people really appreciate when there seated with either people they know or with at least people they have things in common with. several people at my wedding thanked me for putting them on such a good table.

Re: So, what do ya think? Just fill up tables of 10 as the RSVPs arrive?
OMG! I laughed so hard when I read this. I actually suggested this to my FH as a joke of course because I figured it would be easier but he was like I don't think that would go over well.
Gee I wonder why? It would be a lot easier for me. Welcome New Vendors
