Re: Engagement Ring Insurance

There's a website that I think is called Jeweler's Mutual. They will give you an instant quote when you type in the value of your ring. If its something you'd like to do in person, there is a chubb insurance agent on merchants concourse that will give you a policy when you provide them with a certificate and appraisal.

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance

I have the perfect place - I used Jewelers Mutual. Here's the link: http://www.jewelersmutual.com/owners.html

Just to give you a round about figure on how much they charge (in Nassau County):

Appraised for = Annual Premium
$5000 = $88
$7500 = $131
$10000 = $175
$12500 = $219
$15000 = $263

Your ring is insured the moment you postmark the envelope of the application.

Good luck!

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance

What are the conditions of insurance? i was just talking with my brother and sister in law last night and they said here (in London) it's not even worth it to insure the ring because it's only covered if the stone falls out without one of the prongs bending or something like that. Plus they said it would cost them about £1000 a year for 10 years. It might be covered if your house was burgaled, but you would have to prove it was taken. It sounded so strange to me. My mom lost hers a few years ago and had it replaced with no problems.

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance

I used Jewelers Mutual, they cover my ring no matter what happens to my ring. If, God forbid, I get mugged, or the stone is lost, they cover me (so long as I have a police report, I believe).

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance

Our homeowner's wouldn't cover it so we took out a seperate policy through State Farm.
$153 a year for $16K but we live in CO so NY might be more money.

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance

My ring is covered under my renter's insurance - I had to fax them the appraisal and everything is covered, theft, fire, loss, etc....

That's who we went with! What I liked about this policy is that if something happens to my ring, you can go to the jeweler of my choice and have the ring redone. With homeowners insurance that we have, they would pick the jeweler and stone etc. I didn't like that too much.

Thanks for all the info. I was looking for something like this awhile back but couldn't find it. I called Chubb and they said they couldn't help me.

Re: Engagement Ring Insurance

Mine is through State Farm - separte policy than our renter's insurance. We have it insured for the appraisal value, so if its lost or stolen we get the $$ to replace it. I think that is better than when they replace it with something of equal value, b/c we are in control of choosing a new one.
