what do you think of this place card idea?

I was thinking of doing little round mesh tea infusers with the place card sticking out of the top between the two halves, perhaps with a little bit of loose tea inside.

OR

tea bags with my own larger tag attached with the name and table number on it. I just couldn't figure out how to stand them up.
here is a pic of approximately what it would look like (i do not have a pic of the tea ball one)

what do you think? The favors are a teacup and saucer with a molded candle inside.

Looks good. Why don't you make the actual favor the place card too? Just have the table set up with all the teacups (wrapped pretty) with a tag stating name and table.
