FSIL lame excuses for NOT coming to the wedding (VENT...sorry so long)

FSIL called us last night to tell us that she's not coming to NY for the wedding. She gave the following excuses:

#1 - 'We (her and live-in bf) couldn't get our expenses together. Brian can't get the time off of work.'
#2 - 'Plus it's so much money to spend for such a short period of time bc we can't come until Friday after work and will have to leave Sun.'
Here's the kicker!
#3 - 'Everyone esle will be paired off and I don't want to be by myself.'

They didn't grow up together, so they are not really really close (She is his dad's child from his 1st marriage and she's like 15 yrs older). But this would be a great opportunity to build a relationship and share this moment.

What makes me even more upset is that when I found $115 fares from Chi to NY, both FFIL and I called her. We all purchased these fares and would have paid for hers if she needed help. FFIL thinks that she's not coming bc the deadbeat bf can't pay his own way and she can't afford to pay for both of them. FFIL refuses to pay the bf's way, which I understand.

I feel so bad for FH bc although he said he didn't care, but I think he's hurt bc she would rather not come at all bc she doesn't want to be alone. He was so sad this morning.

Sorry so long just needed to vent. I don't want to vent to FH bc I don't want to make it worse for him.

Its her loss. What a jerk...
Just remind her of how she would feel when and if she ever gets married if you used those same excuses on her!

That's what I said... It's her lose. Oh well, I just saved $200.

I would have rather she just told us that she couldn't afford and left it at that.

Don't let it ruin your day. My FH brother and wife aren't coming to the wedding, and it's their loss, because it is going to be a great time. Oh well...
