METS VS. YANKEES -- LET'S ROCK!!!
Hey there --
Long time.. no post...
Just lots of stuff going on.. some good.. some tough to handle.... Been stressed. Have not been able to think of a poll or post as much with my attention so diverted. I have been reading all the posts I have missed lately. It's been very interesting on here as always.
That being said..
Time for a good ole crosstown rivalry.
Some of us will be ecstatic tonight.. some will be disappointed.. and the fanatical among us will have their side of the bed to themselves.. JUST KIDDING!!! haha
It should be good.
Tonight is .. Leiter vs. Some Yankee rookie. Leiter always give you 100%. I don't know who the Yankee pitcher is.. but the Mets have this strange tradition of making rookies look like Cy Young or Bob Gibson.
Staurday -- Traschel vs. Contreras.
Traschel has been both great and awful against the Yankees. I guess it depends on whihc Traschel shows up. Contreras is kinda the same type of pitcher. Either he's awful or great. I expect a high scoring game.
Sunday -- Ginter vs. Mussina
I always go to bed early on Sunday. This pitching match-up might make me want to go to bed even earlier. LOL
I don't think it's going to be the snow-plow it was last year but the Yanks are very tough.
Nevertheless..

I saw.. Oh man... that was vicious.
I have a funny PMS story though....
My FW and I met with a priest and he was great and he asked him to perform the ceremony. We were all happy.. then she started getting crampy..
Fast foward to her living room 2 hours later..
We are watching The Sopranos (a Tuesday night repeat).. She asks me why I never watch the show.. I tell her because I go to bed very early Sunday night because I'm up early for the job (4am to be exact).
And she starts to get so upset.. almost to the point of tears.. she's almost crying and saying... "We have nothing in common.. You don't like any of the things I do."
All of this over a friggin' TV show!!!!! 
Later on.. we talk about it.. and I use eveything that we do have in common against her and I'm like.. "You said we have nothing in common." and her exact words were.. "No, I didn't.. Well... Maybe.. .. (big pause).. I'm sorry." It's become a huge joke with my friends because she totally wigged out on me.
But I survived.. Oh God...... til the next time..

Honestly speaking, I can see the Mets taking the first 2. You're right Leiter always gives 100%. Too bad in the 2000 world series they tried to have him give 150%. Halsey is the rookie going tonight. He pitched an incredible game last weekend, but who know's if that was the real thing. I guess starting against the Mets for your second game is a good thing (there's a small shot for you )

Very true.. sometimes in life.. giving 150% is admirable but will get you bit in the... you know.. As you can imagine, I want the Mets to win all the games. Whether they do or not, remains to be determined.
It'll be fun and hopefully competitive.
Yanks 2-1 is to what people always expect.
We'll see. I do feel better about this Mets team than last year's.. so we'll try to give you guys a tougher time this time around.

Hey OctG ! I was just going to post "Where in the world is OctGroom?" when you popped up this AM .. good to have you back.. Hope that everything is OK (I know about stress.. with one month to go .. trust me !!)
OK. Now that the pleasantries are over ... TIME TO TALK BALL!! Don is right ... we have been "polite" all week, now all bets are off!
I am not going to be obnoxious enough to state that the Yanks are going to crush your guys.. I think it'll be a very well played , close series. The Mets have been playing well and they are much tougher this year than last ..
that said, my prediction is that they will split the first two games, and the Yanks will pull off Sunday night's game in grand style
Of course as some of you may or may not know, Don and I have a little wager for both this and the next subway series. We'll be counting RUNS scored, though, not who wins..
So I'm just hoping that when the Yanks DO WIN, they do so with a crushing 10-1 victory over the Mets (or something similar )

Definitely on the mark with the Contreras/Traschel game .. the Mets SHOULD take this one easily .. if they do, well that remains to be seen
Our rookie (Halsey) was amazing last week.. sure it could have been a fluke, but I have a feeling he has 'the stuff'
Really, the Mets probably "should" keep the first two games close, if not win them entirely.... but whoever said what "should" happens ever "does" happen when it comes to baseball

My brother(Yankee fan) and his wife (Mets fanatic) will be at the game tomorrow... oh they are used to being "estranged" during subway series time!
By Monday I might have Anthony (my FH) move out into their house, and my brother move in with me for awhile
