OMG THERES MORE! Update on House saga
The sellers STILL didn't sign the contract yet they want to close by Sept. 23. 
In the meantime we found an AWESOME apartment, which we were suppossed to decide on last week. We have to let the apartment know if we are taking it by tomorrow.
We decided to give the sellers an ultimatum - if they don't sign the contracts today then we are walking away from the deal. They dragged things out long enough... who takes 3 weeks to sing a contract and then wants to close 2 weeks later? I don't want to lose this apartment and be stuck living with my FIL's if something goes wrong with the house. Enough has gone wrong already.
Then we will start looking for a new house in the Spring. 
So either way I will know where I'm living today!

Julz, it is so unfortunate that these people are bringing you through the ringer...You have to do what is best for Ray & you...I would give them one last chance to sign, if not, it is their loss & you move on...I am sure you will find something in the spring with less the hassle...With the apartment, you can rest easy til house hunting comes again!

What the F are wrong with these people...call them yourselves and ask what the problem is???? Tell them closing on the 23rd is not an option....it's not good for you! Tell them we could have done it had you signed the contract a week ago!! HELLOOOOO!

Something sounds very fishy with these Sellers. I don't know what it is but it makes me nervous. I say go for the apartment if they don't sign by midday today. You will be less stressed, and, if you found one house, there will be others!

Good luck! It may be a blessing--if they were this much of a pain throughout the whole process you would have your hands full! And you don't want to be living with the FILs!!!!!!!!!

Good luck no matter what you choose!
It took our sellers over a month to sign the contract but they didnt want to close 2 months! I cant imagine how they expect all this to work out when they are stalling!!!

I agree I would go with the apartment!!! You don't want to rush into someone else's problem!!! I would wait and find something else!!

The apartment is near boulder creek steakhouse in smithtown.
My FH has been got 3 voicemails from the homeowner.. they are going to sign the contract "Tomorrow or the next day" 
We are going to see 2 other houses tonight.
We will talk to the apartment people later. They know the whole story (what is going on with the house).
We'll see how it goes tonight.

That's exactly what I thought - they got another buyer that may be willing to pay more and they are waiting for THEM to sign a contract.

They didn't... or at least I don't think so because if they don't close by "OCtober 1st" then they will "Lose the house". When we gave them the ultimatum they were panicked!!! They have until noon tomorrow now. After all the drama they put us through I will be happy when they lose their house - bad karma!
Supposedly thats what stalled us the first time... The RE Agent said they had a better offer and they asked us to match that offer. it was $20K above us. We said no way and forget it. The next day their RE Agent said the offer "fell through" and when we talked to the sellers they never heard of this offer. Like their RE agent made it up to try to get more comission

Julz I am so sorry. I hope these people start moving their asses. This is probably what got them in trouble in the first place. Ah we'll pay this bill tomorrow or the next day, nah maybe we'll pay it in 2 weeks. Ah we'll pay it when we get around to it.

OH I forgot to say, we went and looked at two houses today. One of them I LOVED!!!! But then I found a flood in a closet of the basement! Water was leaking through the wall

RE agents...some are great but some stink.
My friends had a problem too - not to your extent but the sellers wouldn't sign either. We are not sure why exactly but guess what. DH and I went up to the town with our friends and I casually went into the RE agent's office to inquire about the house - it was still listed!! She said she was about to leave to show another person a house (not that one) but to leave my #. I left a fake #. Then we went to the house because our friend thought he would have closed by then and had all his bill's addresses changed to the new address and wanted to tell the owners about it. Well, turned out they were told our friends were the ones stalling and they wouldn't sign either! And the sellers already bought their house in Fla and were paying the mortgage on it already. But that was B.S. - they had signed! I think that the 2 RE agents were in cahoots. No matter, they closed a few weeks later.
Do you think maybe the sellers are trying to come up w/ the cash to save the house?
I hope you get it...let us know!

I don't think they are trying to keep the house because they found a new one upstate!!! And they are very excited to move there because it is a huge house with humungous property and it is very cheap compared to here.
Honestly I just think these people are clueless and a bit trashy. The RE Agent is definately a shady guy. Put the 2 together and you have a disaster!
