NWR-sorry, I need hugs right now...UPDATE

Always a problem! Today, I was at school when all of a sudden I got really dizzy...like I was going to pass out. I must have looked horrible because some of the other girls said I did not look so good. I really thought I was going to fall on the floor! AND this is the 3rd day this has been bad. So, I missed my last class and went to the doctor. She is unsure of what it is but gave me anti-vertigo meds, plus a prescription for a hypoglycemia 3 hr test (which I doubt it is because eating did not ease the dizziness), and instructions to drink plenty of fluids and get some rest. The anti-vertigo drug helped for about 3 hrs...so much so that I kept asking out loud, how long I have really felt this way, because when it eased up I felt like a whole new person...like I have really been feeling this way for longer than 3 days, but may have gotten a little used to it. The problem is is now I am dizzy again...I had to miss work (which I really can not afford to do right now)...and now I am really concerned. I want to see a nuerologist...but I am so busy, I have no idea when I will be able to. Plus the fact there is a history of nuerological problems in my family (specificly seizure disorders). I know it's a stretch, but I am really worried now (there is more to it, but please forgive me, I can't say it on a public board). I am so dizzy I can't take it! I feel like I am going to be sick to my stomach! It's just not the right time for this (of course, when is???). There is nothing worse than being 30 miles from home and knowing you have to drive feeling this way.

I am so sorry to post something like this, but I need to vent before I start to cry again...it makes the dizziness worse!

UPDATE: My doctor still have not called me back about my referrals. Now I am getting mad! Yesturday I took the day off, which I guess I really needed. I slept until 1pm. I went to work, came home, FH came over and I fell asleep again! I feel a little better today. I am am taking it easy though. I am going to school today, but luckily I have the day off on wednesday from work. I am giving the doctor until the end of my 1st class to call, otherwise I am calling...

1 more thing...THANK YOU TO ALL YOU GIRLS OUT THERE WHO GAVE ME SUPPORT AND IDEAS. I HATE BEING A GUINNEA PIG W/ MEDS. I THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU ALL ARE THE GREATEST!

God, I sure hope not...not now! The funny thing is that is the 1st thing I thought of...I honestly don't think so. I am not late or anything, I am actually due for AF soon, come to think of it. But we are pretty careful. Is dizziness common w/ pregnancy?

i am so sorry you are feeling so bad. i know you must be really nervous. but it might be something as simple as a sinus infection (they can sometimes cause really horrible dizziness.) listen to your doctors and do what they tell you. make sure you are well hydrated ...drink a lot of water to make sure the dizziness is not coming from being dehydrated.
Good luck, i am sure everything will turn out fine!

Did they check your ears? Sometimes ear infections can cause dizziness too.

It can happen but if you are not even late yet, then I doubt it. I just wanted to make sure before you started taking medication that could be a problem for the baby.

She asked me if it was possible that I was dehydrated...me? who does not drink water! To think! It is possible. I am drinking water now, but I am wondering if something like gatorade would be better/hydrate faster. I have had sinus infections w/ dizziness before, usually I have some sort of head ache w/ 'em, but that does not really mean anything...it still can be a possibility. I also what to go to me ENT to get that checked out...and he can check out my ears too. The class I missed today is also taught by my audiologist professor (who is a licensed audiologist), so I e-mailed him what happened too, maybe he will give some insite.
I can't lay down anymore, I am so uncomfortable...I just want it to stop!!!!

i feel so terrible for you, b/c i know that is such a horrible feeling. definately get to an ENT. i hate to even suggest this b/c i know we are all addicted, but maybe stay off the computer for tonight b/c i find that the movement of the screen can promote more dizziness.....just a suggestion.
good luck at the doctor and keep us posted!!!!

Re: NWR-sorry, I need hugs right now...

Luckily, I don't type that well so I have to look at the keys, not the screen. The thing is that I already took the meds. If I don't get my period in a couple of days, I will take a test.

I am trying to smile...I am just having a lousy day.

ugh.....that is pure misery---i am so sorry you are feeling this way. my mom has been struggling with this on and for the past month or so and it's been some sort of infection every time. It definetley could have something to do with your ears, nose and throat--it's all connected. It could even be bad allergies. Mine have been horrible lately and with all the fluid in my ears i'm surprised i'm not banging into walls!!! Hope you feel better!

Re: NWR-sorry, I need hugs right now...

I get serious dizziness a few days before and a few days into AF... sometimes i even get hot flashes like an old lady (not all the time) this started only about 2 years ago and like yourself i skipped class and went to the doctor.. after i took all sorts of tests i found out that i am anemic... but it is a certain type of anemia (very common though) that only appears when women get AF because of blood loss in the body... i was told i could either take a BC pill with iorn in it or take a multi-vitamin everyday to make sure my body is getting iorn durring those times... might not be your case but just an idea to look into... Definatly take a vitamin everyday.. couldn't hurt....

Re: NWR-sorry, I need hugs right now...

So sorry you feel this way...stay on TOP of the Dr's till you get an answer or something to make you feel better.
I dont think this is your issue but stress can cause this. I am going through a rough stressful time right now and I remember inthe past ( years ago) when I first started to get stressed out, I would constantly get dizzy...to the point where I made it to work but barely..I couldnt stand it...It ended up being me basically have a minor panic attack..and it lasted for a while...It is a REAL physical symptom and sometimes you cant just make it stop...I'm not sure if that could be it for you, but I do remember clearly being extremly dizzy and lightheaded ...was basically not breathing properly and dint know it and it caused real probelms.
whatver happens..hang in there! It sucks to not feel your best. I have been dealing with a headache for days now and its making me crazy so I understand how your feeling.

I'm so sorry that you are feeling this way.

Just take it easy and try not to stress yourself out b/c I'm sure that won't help any.

Feel better soon.

Re: NWR-sorry, I need hugs right now...

Ugh, I am still feeling awful! Skipped school today . This is not helping the "STRESS" issue (missing school and work). I just can't think. I called the doctor today and left a message demanding a referal to a nuerologist and an ENT. Hopefully I can get to the bottom of this. I'm thinking maybe it is a sinus infection (got a headache and I am prone to them). I am trying to stay cool, but I have to admit it's hard. I feel like I just drank 3 bottles of Vodka or something. I don't feel like myself.
I e-mailed all of my professors to let them know what is going on. Hopefully I can get to the bottom of this so I can get on with my life. I can't fall behind in school, that scares me. I know health is more important...it's just that my fears about falling behind in school and missing pay (no sick time because I am part time) is stressing me out, which is what is making this so much worse. again sorry to vent, I am just so stressed and no one understands... I hope I am not being a drama queen

Re: NWR-sorry, I need hugs right now...

Look into Vaso Vegal. Getting rid of caffine and drinking the amount of water you should will make a huge difference.

Did your Dr give you a beta blocker? I know they help but I could never take it due to asthma it counteracts it.

Plus seriously water made a huge difference.

Also Water is better then gatorade.

Did they recommend a tilt table test. I can recommend a great cardiologists if you think this may be a problem when you look up your symptoms.

I know how scary it was for me before I was diagnoised. I had doctor's telling me I would need a pacemaker.

I kept passing out on the LIRR.

Re: NWR-sorry, I need hugs right now...

Hi,

I just got over having vertigo for 3 weeks...i had NO CLUE what was going on...went from doctor to doctor, then to the hospital...they gave me 2 IV's and actually gave me valium-which helped for a few hours but wasn't the solution. It turns out that not only did i have a severe sinus infection...but i also had an inner ear infection which totally throws you off balace..i couldn't stand straight and felt like passing out the whole time :( I would look into getting a cat scan or x-ray and see if you have a sinus infection..they can make you very dizzy!! As for a viral inner ear infection...the only thing that helps that is time (so i was told). I feel perfect now, just drink plenty of water and try to relax if you can....i think you'll be fine!

Re: NWR-sorry, I need hugs right now...

I agree with all of the "sinus/ear infection" posts. Your equilibrium (your balance) is in your inner ear. If you're prone to sinus infections, and all that head stuff is pretty much connected, that's probably what it is - a sinus infection that has worked it's way to your inner ear. Get thee to an ENT ASAP. Clear up the infection, clear up the vertigo, feel better like a good bride2bes should! Blessings!!

Actually this sounds right to me. I am trying to get a referral for an ENT, so hopefully I can get this squared away and start feeling GOOD...
