Whos wrong? I got into a stupid fight with my father

I work 7 days a week, so its hard for me to do regular errands. I asked my father 2 weeks ago if I could drop my car off at his house and if he could take it around the block for an oil change. He said fine, but that he wanted to do the oil change himself. I had planned on dropping it off on monday, but my mom called me the friday before and said to bring it over the weekend. I told her that wasnt possible because I would have to use FI's car and he works part time on the weekends so he would need his car to get to work. He works in the city during the week, so its easier for me to borrow his car. My mom goes on this huge rant that Im inconviencing my dad during the week and that since he's doing me the favor, the least I could do was bring it during the weekend. So as not to cause any drama, I simply told her ok, fine, whatever. So my dad calls me today and at first he was in a good mood. But then he asked when I was going to bring the car over. I said I didnt want to bother him but that I took care of it all ready (I still havent). I told him that my mom said I was inconviencing him, and that was the last thing I ever wanted to do. HE GOT MAD AT ME!!!!!! He hurried me off the phone and said goodbye. I seriously dont understand where I went wrong, but now Im really upset, almost crying because my dad is mad at me. What happened here?

awwww......your dad probably was just looking forward to helping you out. Sounds like a miscommunication thats all.

Your dad is wrong. You never asked him to do the oil change for you. He offered himself. He also has to understand that if he is going to offer such services, he has to keep your schedule in mind. If he knew that the weekend was not good, he should have been like'okay then I will just take the car around the block like origonally planned because I can not do the oil change myself during the week'.

ETA: It is sweet of him to offer, but again he has no right to yell at you for it.

That's what I'm thinking. My dad LIVES to help me out so he'd be disappointed if he didn't get the chance.
Or else he was annoyed that your mom told you that you had inconvenienced him when you really hadn't.

Is it possible that he was really mad at your mother and hurried you off the phone so he could confront her??

This was my take on it - I figured he hurried you off so he could yell at your mom for saying that!

I wish that were the case, but I know he's mad at me by the tone in his voice. My mom just had surgery yesterday so I doubt he's going to argue with her about their least favorite child anyway. I just feel absolutely horrible that I let him down, and I dont even know how I did it.
