Check this out - Black Eyed Peas Lets Get It Started (DjPiLL Edit)

I have heard a lot of people here are planning on using "Lets Get It Started" by the Black Eyed Peas as their entrance song.

Well the problem with this is... if you are just using it for the Bride and Groom's entrance song (not the whole party)... the chorus of this song doesn't start for a good minute into the song. By that time you are probably already onto the floor being applauded and ready to start the first slow dance. Or you are waiting for the chorus to start before you come out and your guests get a little impatient.

Well... a good DJ (like some here have said) will plan the song to actually start at around the chorus.

Well... a better DJ (like myself - shameless plug ) will take it a step further and actually edit the song so you get the beginning part of the song... and instead of the 1st verse starting you kick right into the chorus.

Not sure what I mean? Well download it here from my website to review.

Black Eyes Peas - Lets Get It Started (DJP Edit)

<for best results... right click on this link and select save target as... then save it to your computer and play it after it finished downloading>

Let me know what you think. Obviously if you prefer to hear the entire song... well thats cool too. But if you want a quick "powerful" start... check it out.

Oh and the friendly DISCLAIMER: In order to use this song... you must own a copy of either the Maxi-CD single to this song, or the full album Elephunk or else you must delete the file off your hard drive after 24 hours. Please go out and support artists like the Black Eyed Peas by purchasing their albums at places like Best Buy and Circuit City.

If you're having a dj, they can just set the track up to start at the point you want, you don't have to download a special version...

First off, I have a question....Do you DJ for weddings by any chance or parties at all for that matter? I know you mentioned DJ'ing in bars and stuff. I am just curious.

Secondly, YOU WORK QUICK and WELL!!
I own the CD so I shamelessly downloaded it.

Thanks for taking the time to do this for us!!

True! I just know that I don't want to be bothered trusting them to play it where I want it. This way...I know and can plan it out better.
And, anyway....DJPill took the time out to do this for the benefit of those of us that will use it as our BP entrance song....so he did the work for them and I think it was very generous. Thanks Again DJ!

Better yet, skip Best Buy/Circuit City and get your music from your local friendly independent record store....

Yeah they can obviously start it at the chorus.... i've done it too when I played. And I have DJed at weddings before which is why I feel that sometimes there is a better solution to how songs are played.

But I am also a perfectionist. By starting it at the chorus... you lose the cool beginning of the song where it goes ("and the bass keeps running... running... and running running"). I like that part.

If you saw and listened how I edited it... perhaps you would understand what I was trying to accomplish.

And Flacata is right... sometimes you can never "trust" how a DJ is going to do it.

I know for my entrance... I am pre-mixing and editing everything in advance so I know it gets played RIGHT. Then I'll just hand the CD to the DJ and say "just play this... dont 'F' with it!"

You should partner with the big wedding DJ's and do it for them!!! They could play and you just make the edited copies for them! I'd feel better if a DJ told me that they outsourced someone to make edited copies of exactly what I want!!!

Re: Check this out - Black Eyed Peas Lets Get It Started (DjPiLL Edit)

I can do... and occasionally do all sorts of parties, weddings, sweet 16s, engagements, anniversaries, school dances, holiday, and corporate events (my favorite).

I have been getting into doing a lot of "Video" work with my DJing recently. I am buying Music Video DVDs instead of buying the CDs now. The last wedding I did... I took my projector and full screen and did a "Video DJ" show. I played the music videos to the songs on the big screen while the song was actually playing. Really cool IMO. The look on the guests faces when I started the video show 2hrs into the reception with the video to MJ's "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" was PRICELESS!

I have and own all of my own equipment. But the bar I am DJing at in the city (Sutton Place)... pays me quite well for easy work (don't have to lug all my stuff around). Plus I have been there for a long time (4 years now) and they keep me very busy (I get 2-3 nights a week).

I could work for a wedding company and take some of their side work... but the amount they would probably pay me (after they take their master cut)... wouldn't be much more than what I am doing in Manhattan. Plus I enjoy working the drunken bar scene so I usually stick with that. Plus I have been running the music videos at the bar. I throw them on all the big screens and its pretty kickarse.

Oh... and just for the record I am *NOT* using that Black Eyed Peas song for my wedding... so I had no other reason to do this except to basically do it for all of you guys.

Enjoy!

A ton of people from this site might be trying to DL the song right now and my poor webserver isn't happy.

The better way to get it would be to RIGHT-CLICK on the link... then select save target as... then save the full copy onto your computer then play it.

Re: Check this out - Black Eyed Peas Lets Get It Started (DjPiLL Edit)

Oh... and another edit that I made to it (without most of you even noticing) is I did a better job of "volume leveling" the song.

The normal beginning of the song is very low in volume compared to start of the first verse and chrous. I took the beginning up until the "Lets get it started...." part and raised the volume significantly to match it to the rest of the song.

Yeah... more techno-babble I am sure.

Re: Check this out - Black Eyed Peas Lets Get It Started (DjPiLL Edit)

THANKS! This was what we wanted for the BP entrance, but we wanted it edite dthis way for them too, rather then the beginning of the song. We actually picked the song when it was on the "Barbershop 2" soundtrack and it wasnt being played yet...now I'm afraid 5 months from now at the wedding it will be overplayed to death.....I'm kinda hoping it dies down a little and then wont seem so "popular".

Any other BP entrance suggestions DJPill???

Well thats my feeling on it. People are saying they want this song as their entrance... yet their wedding isn't till months away... some over a year.

I have a feeling the song will be played out by then and you will want something else anyways.

As far as entrance songs go... I am not sure what I want to do yet (for my wedding even).

I have an idea to come out to Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. I would edit that song similar to what I did to Started... I would also incorporate my DJ promo that I use on my website into it. I am not sure though if my FW will go for it.... but I know if she picks something it will be ultra-lame anyways so I will probably just get my wish on it.

Plus using my DJ promo for my entrance actually has meaning behind it.... its not just some random song.
