Cruise Wedding?

I am just throwing this out there, but I was second thinking possibly having my wedding on a cruise ship, helping to pay for some of my immediate families cruise. I think this would be not only less expensive, but a more intimate collection of close family to spend over a couple of days...

I just started thinking about this because I am becoming overwhelmed of spending (and having to finance) over 20k for a wedding that will be all over in four hours...

Did anyone look into this option or have heard of someone that has done it? Just looking for some advice! Thanks

Re: Cruise Wedding?

i think it is an idea worth looking into but i also think that depending on how many family members you are helping to pay for that it can be expensive also. i think it also might be hard getting everyone to be able to take there vacation at the same time. but if you book for a group you may be able to get a discount

Re: Cruise Wedding?

It sounds like alot of fun, but I afree with janwinterbride that it would probably be very difficult for everyone to take vacation at the same time.

Re: Cruise Wedding?

My sister and her fiancee were considering doing that..but reality struck when she realized that our big family and his big family would never be able to find a week or whatever to take off simulatneously. If she had a smaller immediate family I think it would be easier.

Re: Cruise Wedding?

Instead of doing it on a weeklong cruiseliner, would you consider doing a day cruise? There are plenty that leave out of LI or Manhattan and I've heard it's relatively inexpensive.

Re: Cruise Wedding?

FH and I contemplated this for a brief moment over the summer after we already booked our hall and were feeling really overwhelmed with the wedding planning. I would go directly to the cruise lines websites and request information about weddings on the ship or off the island. You may also find this site helpful Cruise Weddings

Re: Cruise Wedding?

I am also considering a cruise wedding. I was looking at the Nautical Princess out of freeport online. Does anyone have experience with them? The boat looks great (now) but how will it look in two year when I get married? What about whether? I am going to either be married in July or September. What do you think?

Re: Cruise Wedding?

We also thought about it, but decided it would be to costly for the guests. I read some where that the new oasis of the seas has an amazing chapel on the ship which is surrounded by windows over looking the ocean!!! Look into it that ship is suppose to be amazing!!! Otherwise I recommend princess for a wedding cruise, when I went, I saw many brides on the ship!!
