My daughters wedding review w/more pics added!

Her day was AMAZING! Sundays weather was made just for her. She was beautiful, glowing, just perfect.

The church was filled with guests, flowers and love.

The Miller Place Inn was beautiful. All her fall theme surrounded the hall. There was so much wonderful food that you could make a meal just on the cocktail hour. When we went into the main hall for the dinner recpetion, another amazement.

Ofcourse, as I know myself only to well, I had the tears flowing. I was good with a few tears helping her get into her gown, watching her smile, taking pictures and while I was walking down the isle with my son, but I lost all control of myself when she had her spotlight dance with her 'daddy'. From when she was a tiny baby, he would always dance around the living room with her in his arms, and when the DJ called for her to escort her daddy to the dance floor, the tears started. The music came on and thats when I lost it. I had my oldest and dearest friends litterly holding on to me whileO sobbed out of control. I couldn't hold it together. After they danced, they walked back to the table, he sat down and she was sitting on his lap, both crying. they sat there just like they did all her life. that was the most difficult part of my day.

Her day was perfect from the time she woke, till the time she left. I have photos in an album here on LI Weddings.

I can't believe that I married off my only 2 children, 3 months apart and I made it!
I am a surviver!

Just reading your review got me all choked up. I know when I see my husband and daughter dance I too will be very emotional. How did you ever get through two weddings?

I didn't get through it! Seeing them dance was the hardest thing of the entire day for me.
I kow the photographer has quite a few pics of me hysterical.

as for both weddings, its so stressfell. i have no more weddings to look forward to. I'm very close with them both and each of their weddings were different, as they are, and they hit me in different ways. both were emotional. I'm a very emotional mom..LOL

Re: My daughters brief wedding review w/pics!

Gina, I thought of you on Sunday and I was so happy the weather was as beautiful as it was. Your daughter is gorgeous and made a beautiful bride. I can't wait to see other pictures. I'm sure you looked wonderful and very proud, as you should be, walking down the aisle with your son.

I hope the weather is nearly as nice next Sunday when my son gets married. As you know my daughter got married in May, and this one is my youngest son. My oldest son is close too, but that will be a small wedding.

All the best to the newlyweds and give your daughter my sincere congratulations!

Re: My daughters wedding review w/more pics added!

Thank you all for your best wishes and thoughts! Her day (and mine) were truly amazing.

Marrying off both my children was hard, but like anything else, us mom's get through it all. It wasn't the most easiest thing to actually see your children grow but the most precious to witness.

Both weddings had their own style which made them interesting. I couldn't imagine them being any different than they were.

I wish I could be with my daughter more to continue to share in her joy, but when I think of her now starting her new life, it makes me happy in a sad sort of way.

Its a MOM thing!

.... Its a MOM thing!

I couldn't agree with you more. My son got married two weeks ago and as you know, my daughter was married in May. No sooner did we catch a breath, my last one announced his engagement the other day. He's the oldest of my four kids and although he's had his own house and has lived on his own for some time now, it's still very emotional for a mom.

I hope you and the newlyweds are all doing well.

Re: My daughters wedding review w/more pics added!

Hi Mary.
I don't know about you, but I'm having a very hard time with the empty nest syndrome. Even though my daughter has lived out on her own for 10 years and my son for 1 year, I can't seem to adjust to them having spouses. I guess deep down inside I wanted my kids to always be with me. Don't get me wrong, I'm so thrilled that that have made wonderful lives for themselves, maybe a reflection of what I might of taught them. I'm just finding that with the holidays very upon us, my kids being away from me, its heartbreaking. I feel so alone. Though I know I'm not. And I suppose I'm not the only mom that feels this way.

Is this normal? I can't understand why I feel so empty. The joys that they give me are priceless. Wow, no one ever told me that I would feel like this. Still, it's a mother thing!

My newlyweds are doing fine, thank you and I'm sure yours are doing the same. their still on cloud nine. My son is on his final days with his Army activation. My daughter was here this weekend with all her proofs and the tears flowed again. It took me 3 hours to choose my photos for my mothers album.

Re: My daughters wedding review w/more pics added!

Gina,
I understand about the empty nest - believe me! I was tearing up each morning for weeks before his wedding while making my son's breakfast. That was our quiet time together, before even his father woke up. As a result, an opportunity presented itself at his work and he brought me a beautiful Maltese puppy. He said I needed someone to take him place and since I did such a great job raising all four of them I would do a great job with the puppy. So now I have another baby in the house and I love it. I definitely miss my children and it's very hard to have them split during the holidays. Mine fortunately live a closer distance than your daughter does to you, but they still have very busy lives and lots of friends. I have to accept that we will not be seeing them as frequently as I would like. Last week when my oldest announced his engagement it didn't work when I picked up the phone and invited everyone for a last minute celebratory dinner -as I did with the others. It was sad to have only half the family together and I know he understood, but it disappointed him.
Gina, we have to find people or activities to help us grow into our new phase in life. The hardest thing to accept is that we are not the most important person in our children's lives any more, but it's natural and it's supposed to be this way. Gone are the days when we lived next door to our parents. I lived next door to my MIL for 25 years, as was depicted in 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'!, but it's not easy and not something I recommend.
You have this wonderful site to come to to vent and I hope you have a good circle of friends or relatives upstate where you live to help fill the hours. Once the holidays are over it will get better. I promise!
All the best.
Mary

I'm trying to post a picture or two from my son's wedding. I hope it works.

Mary, what wonderful pictures. You looked beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing them with me. Your 'new baby' is so adorable.

I'll be FMing to you shortly but right now I'm going to try to post a couple of pictures here. It never works for me.

can you tell how I was crying?....I was a blubbering, out of control mom.
Here is also one of my daughter and son.
