Hello LIW Brides!
Hi everyone,I just got engaged on Friday and a friend of mine told me about this website. I had never heard of it, and I think it's great! I've gotten so much info already!
My FI and I want to try and get married next fall, so we know we have to get started planning right away. Any advice from all of you?

Welcome & Congrats
Make sure you book with your hall first or at least check with them to make sure the date is available. Do you have any idea of where you would like your reception??
Happy Planning!!!

Re: Hello LIW Brides!
First welcome!! and Congratulations! We're having a fall wedding as well.
I would start looking at halls, and churches, get an idea of what day of week you want wedding, pick out wedding party.
First book Photographer and videographer...those book pretty quickly.
It doesn't hurt to book florist and DJ also pretty soon after that.
Good luck

Wow, thanks for the responses already! They are truly helpful. We are going to look at some halls withing two weeks. I'm thinking of looking at:The Hamlet Country Club
Hamlet Wind Watch
Hamlet Willow Creek (I already asked them to send me a video tour of the place b/c it isn't open yet)
Carlyle at Bethpage
Giorgio's
Can you tell FH and I are golfers??
Thanks again!

Re: Hello LIW Brides!
Welcome! The first thing to do is:
1. Decide on your budget. Do nothing until you do this first.
2. Decided on the type of ceremony and reception you want. If you want a colorscheme or theme, finalize that.
3. Get a preliminary idea of how many guests you will be having.
4. Chose between 2-3 wedding dates.
5. Based on the above, start scouting ceremony and reception locations. Here is a good website to start at: Wedding Reception Sites
This is what we did and it worked fantastic for us.
Hope this helps.

Re: Hello LIW Brides!
Carlyle is gorgeous! My friend had her wedding their last fall and it was superb. The food is awesome also. I have a wedding at Giorgio's this June and the bride is always raving about it. DOn't really know about the other places, but make a post about them and other brides can help

Re: Hello LIW Brides!
I'm partial because I'm going to be a Giorgio's bride, but the place is GORGEOUS! It's one wedding at a time, which is KEY in my opinion and is away from main roads and traffic. The view is breathtaking, the room is so elegant with chandliers. Not to mention you have the golf course, garden and beach for pictures. I love that the deck wraps around the cocktail and reception room (glass windows) so people can enjoy the scenary and be right outside your room. They are also very fair with their pricing too. Definitely check them out!www.giorgiosatfoxhill.com

Re: Hello LIW Brides!
I'm partial to the Hamlet Wind Watch!! Love it there and Denise is such a pleasure. As far as the other places, Giorgio's looked really nice from the website & I've heard great things about it, but it was just too far for us. I think Carlyle is very expensive. I'm not sure what your budget is. I went to a showcase there and it was gorgeous.Happy planning!! Welcome!!
