What an amazing journey it was…A trip we will never forget.
I have lots of pictures to share, Please Enjoy!!!
Southern Africa in a nutshell ;) …
Our first stop was Cape Town. We stayed at the Arabella Sheraton. It was a lovely hotel, very contemporary, GREAT beds, close to the V & A Waterfront & our room had great views of Table Mountain.
We had a guide take the two of us around the first day & show us Table Mtn. (simply stunning), the views are amazing. There are animals called “Rock Dassies” (sort of look like a prairie dog) that sunbathe on the rocks right next to you- they are really cute! Believe it or not, they are most closely related to the elephant! (Hope you don’t mind my commentary, I’m a wildlife junkie!!!)
We also made a stop @ Penguin Island- adorable little penguins running all around you!!! All with a turquoise water backdrop-What could be better!!!

We also visited Green Market Square, where you can do lots of flea-market- style shopping, see street performers, view lots of interesting people! It’s a bit shady at times, but tons of fun!

Our second part of the HM included a drive through the Cape Winelands with our guide, stopping at Vineyards for tastings (South African wine is wonderful!!!). One of the Wineries, Spier, had a Cheetah Rescue as well, where we got to pet 6 month old cheetah cubs!!! They were so adorable, their hair is quite rough though, not like a domestic cat.
Our second hotel stay was at Sante Spa at the Winelands Hotel. What a place!!! I felt like a celebrity staying here!!! We really did our relaxing at this place. Got tons of spa treatments (massages sucked, but oh well), lounged at the pools, etc…

I was ready, however, for our next part of the HM, my dream…the Safari!!!!!
We flew into Kruger & then took a charter plane (did I mention I hate charter planes???) to our Safari camp. PS- Our plane landed on dirt- YES- dirt!

Our Safari Camp was Honeyguide, located in the Manyaleti Game Reserve, just outside of Kruger National Park. This place was unreal! We really wanted to be “one with nature”, so we opted for the “tented” safari camp- Some tent! It was really nice. It takes a few minutes to get used to the lizards & giants spiders running around your tent (they mostly stay OUTSIDE and they are harmless), and the occasional monkey running though your tent is always a nice surprise!!! I loved every minute of it!!! (The hubby on the other hand…)
The first night, they served us a candle lit dinner in our tent, when lo and behold, an ELEPHANT came right beside our tent!!! It was the coolest!!!
PS- The food on Safari was some of the best food I’ve ever eaten!!!
We went on game drives twice a day, did some walking safaris, saw tons of wildlife, met lots of great people from around the world, had some close encounters with some baby hyena cubs which was too adorable!!! As the sun set on a game drive, our guide would stop at a watering hole, set up a bar, pour us drinks & we would have cocktails & watch an African sunset while the curious wildlife inched closer to see what we were up to (mostly nosey Wildebeest). Let me tell you, there is nothing like an Africa sunset!!!

OK - this was a REAL honeymoon!!! Wow! Thanks so much for sharing the photos with us! I feel like I've had a short little romp in South Africa. I love trips like this, that are diffrent, exciting, interesting and therefore different and out of the norm. Very memorable.

I wish future hubby was into things like this. The caribbean is nice, but my thing is, how many beaches can you visit, how many souvenirs can you buy, etc.

Wonderful. Glad you had a good time and got back safely.

And look at that SUNSET!!!
