Just think of how happy you'll be on your wedding day, and thereafter when you are in your house . . .the saving will totally pay off in the end - if it was easy, everyone would do it and no one would have credit card debt!!!

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
I know how you feel or rather I am going to know how you are feeling...as of the New Year I go on a BUDGET that is going to get alot of getting use too...just like you said I want to be able to get my hair and nails done and buy clothes whenever I want...but I guess sometimes there are more important things to think about - like where we're going to live once we do get married...lol...It'll be worth it in the end...you're DEFINATELY not alone :)

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
I am feeling the same way. I went on a budget Janury 1st of this year and it is amazing how much money you can save when you are not buying clothes, shoes and handbags. Handbags are my weekness. But I have plenty to hold me over for a while. So in that year I have saved enough money to pay off all the vendors and also we are buying a townhouse. I have been saving for 4 years for the townhouse so that did not happen in one year. But it is possible. But I have learned it is okay to say to someone 'Oh sorry I can't go I can't afford it.' It gets easier with time. But like the above poster said it is so worth it! Good luck!Kim

Oh yeah..HATE IT! Took the nails off to save some $$ and my nails look like SH**!Shopping for clothes....just not happening. Hope the holidays I do get some but then again, cash presents sound just as good.
It seems like its never enough but I know we can do it and once the wedding has come, I'll be happy and happier on a shopping spree!

it's so hard to not shop but it made me realize i had more then enough clothes! the toughest part is now for the Holidays--I usually go really overboard for everyone and this year i just can't so I feel bad.

Yes good point. The holidays this year are tight but your family loves you weather or not you give them lots of gifts.

I'm totally feeling the same way. I have no clothes...I haven't shopped in months and I used to be a shopaholic. I can't afford to spend as much as I'd like to on Christmas gifts, and its really bothering me. We hardly ever go out anymore. All of this and we're still not saving enough money!!!I guess I could use some encouragement too!

Ditto - I reduced my manicures to once a month, haven't gotten a pedicure since the summer (my toes look so sad) and I even started coloring my own hair to save $$$...Don't even get me started about not having any clothes....

I am going crazy. I have reduced getting my hair done to once every 2 months, nails and toes maybe every 3 months. How does everyone stay away from the shops the malls? I just do stuff for the weddings on the weekends to keep away from the malls.

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
Me too. This budget thing is driving me nuts. I do my own manicure and pedicure (which I have to say improves in time). I have not shopped for clothes since last year I think people are starting to notice. I hate it BUT FH and I just put 5% down on a condo which we will be moving into next week. We still need to save a lot of money for our wedding that is 10 months away. A budget pays off in the end.

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
Oh I completely understand! Stay on your budget and have faith and do not give up. The funny thing is, I just bought my bridal gown and I was really feeling the pressure, when all of a sudden the manager walks over with a discounted gown (over $500 off) and voila! In my budget and it is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. I use a little reverse psychology on myself. For instance, when doing wedding stuff I always remind myself it is one day. Not 7, not 6,but 1 day. This way, if it won't matter a week after my wedding, I am not going to spend extra money on it. You be surprised how well things work out when you refuse to give in. Best of luck and you can do it! So can the rest of us.

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
It took me quite a while to get used to it, but I have, to some extent. I have little fits every now and then. FH bought me a gift certificate to Express so I could shop! He is so sweet! Of course I spent more than the gift certificate! It is hard! But we will probably be on budgets forever now. First the wedding, then the house, then the kids.....it never ends!

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
hey don't feel bad I'm on a tight budget too, I go to school, work and have a 4 year old little boy. Thankgod my FH is good to us otherwise we would never do anything. I am so broke everything I have either goes to bills or savings. It will all be worth it in the end though.LOL and ditto on the manicures and pedicures, It's so sad and I get so depressed sometimes that I have no new clothes because I am a shopaholic for me and my son. You girls are making me feel alot better though now that I know I'm not alone:

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
we are on a budget too, but you have to get your nails done ladies!! to show off the ring!!please, allow yourselves $20 every two weeks to get your nails done.
a budget that doesn't allow you the simple things really sucks!
we are saving for the wedding and a house as well. so far on schedule but I would literally be lost without buying myself at least one sweater a month and getting my nails done.
We work hard, you deserve it.

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
Being on a budget is the biggest source of stress for my fh and I. I want to spend, spend, spend and my fh is all like 'how much does it cost?' I guess it is good that one of us is like that, but it really gets on my nerves.

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
Being on a budget sucks, but I try to treat myself to something once a week. It gives me something to look forward to... I know that on Friday, I can enjoy myself by relaxing and going to stores, and getting myself something new to wear, or maybe a manicure or something. It's hard to save, so reward yourselves! Don't cut yourself off completely from enjoyment!

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
There is nothing wrong about doing your own manicures. I have been on a budget for just over a year now and thankfully I am. With the new wedding plans and rushing up the date, we are able to still pay for our wedding ourselves! And we will still be on a budget with the baby coming and we hope to be in a house in the next few years.I clip coupons, return soda bottles, do my own laundry, do my own nails and I do shop once in awhile for clothes. But there HAS to be a sale!!
It does suck - but you find ways to make it work. Don't forget to budget something fun once in awhile - even if its just a movie

Re: Ahhhhhh.. i hate being on a budget? Is anyone else.
The way we did it was you get XXX amount of $ each week. That $$ needs to cover your gas, your eating out, playing cards with the guys, everything, if you want a new DVD it comes out of that $$. If you have extra at the end of the week great save it for next week and buy urself the whatever it is that you want.So far it was been working out very well and we really dont feel deprived. It also helps if FH wins 100 bucks playing cards he uses that for his extra's.

That's a really good idea. What is a reasonable/rational amount for the week?
