Can't get iPod to mount to iTunes on 2nd computer
I usually use my laptop to upload songs into my iPod mini but I want to be able to upload songs at work as well (I know about disabling automatic updates so I don't wipe out the songs already on my iPod). (Note: I use a USB port on my laptop because it does not have a firewire cardProblem is this. I installed iTunes on my computer at work. When I plug my iPod into the USB port (again, no firewire at work), the computer recognizes it (the little icon pops up in the toolbar and the iPod gives the 'Do not disconnect' message.) ALSO, iTunes automtically opens....but the iPod is not mounted to it. (It does not see it). Why would iTunes not see the iPod?
Any ideas from the seasoned iPod pros?
Thanks.

Re: Can't get iPod to mount to iTunes on 2nd computer
Hey, my FH says that you have to get all of your music off of one computer and onto the other. You have to copy your collection and put it onto the other one. ....NOT USING THE IPOD! Check out ipodlounge.com an there's software that you can rip off the ipod instead of downingloading from your compuer to the ipod.iPodlounge.com
here's another website FH thought you might want... download.com
FH actually made a network between his computer and his laptop and copied his whole collection so that he could download to his ipod from either one.
If this makes absolutely no sense, FM me an I'll FH exlain it better.

Re: Can't get iPod to mount to iTunes on 2nd computer
Thanks for the info. You actually can use more then one computer to upload songs to your iPod if you disable the automatic updates on iTunes while the iPod is connected. That way it doesn't automatically delete all of your music and auto-sync your library from the second computer. You have to manually upload each song though (since auto-sync is disabled), but it gives you the ability to use more then one computer and library.
Problem is, (and the more I read, the more people I see with this problem) is that iTunes is not recognizing my iPod. My first computer had this problem when I first got my iPod until I formatted it....now it's got over 450 songs on it now and I don't want to re-format it.
I think it may be an XP problem. I got some ideas from one of the iPod sites I'll try tomorrow at work.
Again, thanks for the links!
