How many places do you look at?

I am going this weekend with my FH, Mom and sis to see the Vineyard Caterers. I have passed it numerous times and after speaking with the Matre'D it sounds so perfect for the price and food. In your experience, O wise Brides, If it turns out that I love the place, should I just book it or should I continue to look around?

So, I guess I am asking, how many places did you look at before you booked?

PS - I am so happy I found this site! You ladies are awesome

Re: How many places do you look at?

We looked at 4 places.. I think you should hold off on booking immediately- they will generally hold the date for you for a brief period of time.

Re: How many places do you look at?

I only physically looked at one place. It was perfect so we booked it. I have no regrets about our decision. It was an amazing wedding at the perfect place for us.

Re: How many places do you look at?

We looked at 8 places. But if you really love the Vineyard and they have the date you want I think you should book it - just so long as you don't think you'll second guess yourself later. I think I would have done that. So maybe you want to look at a few more, but then you risk losing your date. If they have a bunch of dates open I wouldn't worry too much. Am I making any sense here???

Re: How many places do you look at?

welcome!

We looked at 5 places.
Its important to narrow them down to top 5 or top 6 and than go from there.

Re: How many places do you look at?

If you really like it book it. I only looked at 1 place and fell in love with it. The price was right and I have no regrets. Good luck in your search and follow your instincts

Re: How many places do you look at?

we booked after seeing the first.. we had meetings with a few later in the week but we fell in love with the first and it was totally in our price range.

the next meeting we had set up was out of our price range but we just wanted to look there, i didn't want to fall in love with that one.. especially since MG was giving us so much for the price.

We have looked at 14 so far and plan to look at one more (at least). I feel like I willl just know when I find the place. Right now I am happy with about 3 places we looked at and could work with one of the 3 however, I want to have a 'wow' feeling. hasn't happened yet though.

Re: How many places do you look at?

We are having a smaller wedding so I called at lot of places. Very few woud do a wedding with a minimum under 100 so that narrowed it for me. We did pick the Watermill because they lowered the minimum for us to 100 because we are getting marrried on a Monday, July 4th.

Re: How many places do you look at?

I looked at 30 places. In part, because I'm crazy and have to see ALL my options before I make a decision but also because I was working with a less than stellar planner at the time who didn't really narrow the field well enough. I did actually look at Vineyard Caterers and if we didn't have so many OOT guests (the closest airport was still kind of far and had limited flights) we DEFINITELY would have booked. They had the most amazing grooms' suite ever--HUGE TV and I think they even had a pool table! The banquet manager was so friendly and the place was very elegant. My only hesitation was that, while I loved the vineyard, I didn't necessarily want a purple & green vineyard theme, which I think I may have gotten sucked into if I went with them.

As for whether to book the place if you like it, I say look around just to make sure especially if you haven't gone to visit too many places yet. You just don't want to second guess your hall, which is easier to do (IMO) if you haven't looked around. Good luck and enjoy your trip out there!

Re: How many places do you look at?

We looked at 5 but the last one was the Floral Terrace...Once we walked in there, we knew it was the place...

You will get that feeling when you walk in...Don't think you can't book it because it is the only hall you see...
