May be a stupid question.. Can groomsman and ushers be the same people?

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.. The reason I ask is - I never saw the groom walk people down the aisle. So during this time - where is he then and with who?

Hi Amy, try this link BP - who does what . Ushers are IN ADDITION TO groomsmen and their sole purpose is to escort people down the aisle or help them find their seat.

o.k. it says sometimes in addition to groomsmen. I ask because in the weddings that Ive been to the groomsman are ushers and theres a few more guys also. I would think the groom would want all his guys with him before the big I do LOL

Yes back in the day there were called ushers, the groomsmen- more modern way of calling them walked the guest to their seats, we are keeping that 'old' tradition and having the groomsmen walk the guest down, the groom and best man are usually down at the altar or behing the scenes in the church. you will see things called ushers that pertain to groomsmen cause they are the same. modern times have tried to change it but traditionally they are the same just different names.
