Catering Hall Questions

I need feedback.... does anyone feel like they are forgeting to ask their banquet manager important questions. Can anyone give me some must ask questions especailly since my wedding is soon approaching. I feel dumb asking this but I want to make sure I've got all my bases covered.

Re: Catering Hall Questions

How many servers per table?

Do you have to pay for table linens? And can they bride and groom pick them out?

WHat kind of liquor do you serve? Ex Top Shelf

Do the waiters take drink orders from the table or do guests have to get their own?

IS the cake included? Can you bring your own?

Do you have vegetarian, Kosher, etc (special request) dishes for guests who request it??

How many events will be going on that day?

Do you share a bridal suite with anyone?

What time does cocktail hour start?

If guest (OOT) come early can they be accomodated??

My cousin/BM gave these questions to me to ask...it was a big help!

Hope this helps you too

Re: Catering Hall Questions

Also

- How many servers per table?

- How much seating will be available at the cocktail hour?

- Is there a cake cutting fee? Is there a cake cutting fee if I bring my own cake?

- What happens if I can't make my minimum? Can I put the extra money toward extras at the cocktail hour or a pasta course, etc?

- Can I taste the food before I finalize my contract?

- Will you open the cocktail hour early if guests arrive early?

- What food at the cocktail hour will be replensihed, and which will run out? (This is important, i didn't realize that the passed hor dourves at my hall were a one time deal, like the rbing out a certain amt and when it's gone, it's gone)

Things to try to get thrown in (depending on your hall):

Pasta course
Viennese
Seafood or other specialty station
Ice Sculpture
Chocolate Fountain

Generally there will be something they'll 'throw in'. I got my pasta course free, and by way of the price being lowered, I basically got the viennese for free too. If they have the choco fountain by the time my wedding rolls around I'm going to really try to get them to throw that in too!

Also, I suggest going back a 2nd time. Most vendors seem to lower their prices on the 2nd go around.
