okay i need advice....
My mom just called all upset because apparently last summer she bought me pots and pans and not the ones from my registry. She got me 'tools of the trade' I don't know what they are and if they are good or not. I registered for Teflon pots and pans. She wants me to take the pots and pans off my registry and use hers. She says 'a registry is a suggestion and people don't have to get what you registered for' I don't know I guess that is true if somene wanted to get you a frame or vase.. but the big stuff is supposed to be what you registered for...SOOOO are 'tools of the trade' good pots and pans. She is really upset and says I am being a snot and d'idn't know I would get so involved in this whole registry thing'.. whatever that means. She sounds like she wants to cry. Normally I would concede to make her happy but I really like the pans I registered for... What do I do...
If they are good, quality, well known pots and pans I will remove the ones from the registry and use those.. Who has heard of them? are they nice. What should I do ? Am I being a snot?

Re: okay i need advice....
i've never heard of them, but then again i'm domestically challenged
in this situtation, in my honest opinion, i would take them off the registry. that was so sweet of your mother to do! but to me, pots and pans are pots and pans! so i don't know if that helps any!

I've heard of them. Macys usually sells them. I received a set of them as well. I haven't used them yet, but I know there is a huge selection at Macys.

Re: okay i need advice....
Okay and here is my confession... a few weeks after I got engaged, I registered. Right after that My mom sent me to her closet to get something.. and there were the pots right on the floor.. I have known for like 9 months.. But i thought she returned them.I just called and confessed and she was like, 'these are pots I wish I had.. I got them for you.. I want you to have them. They are beautiful. '
I just took the teflon pans off my registry.. I conceded. I think they look really nice. I left the griddle pan and the frying pan that were teflon coated (t-fal) on the registry

Awww...I'm sure they will be fine. It was her thought that counts. If anything you can eventually buy your own. If using those pots make her happy, then y not??

Re: okay i need advice....
tough call on that one. to me, pots are pots and thats probably because ive learned to cook and have been cooking using my moms pots for years and they arent 'modern' if that makes sense. BUT as far as teflon is concerned, i would definatley suggest getting your frying pans in teflon because thats important for the 'nonstick' factor. i think that was really generous of your mom to get you pots and pans, soo long ago no less, but whatever you decide you should be comfortable with. if you are dead set against using them, tell her, but if its not the biggest deal, take them off your registery. sorry, im not much helpETA... look at that ... problem solved already! HEHE

Re: okay i need advice....
btw, my pots and pans are not teflon, but i put a cheap three piece frying pan set on the registry that's only like 20 bucks. figure i can just get a new ones when they get old!

Tools of the Trade is Macy's 'house brand'...they are OK, not great, but Teflon isn't that great either...now, if you had registered for Calphalon or All-Clad and your mom got Tools of the Trade, I wouldn't change, but in your case I think they're comparable.Sorry you're going through this.
ETA: Should have read the whole post...good decision, if that's their picture above, they are beautiful!

I totally agree with this post. All-Clad is veeeerrry expensive and Calphalon is up there in price also. Tools of the Trade are very good pots and pans. The 'classique' ones which your mom got for you are the ones I registered for and I hope I get them.
