Glen Island Harbour Club girls

I might have posted this before, so i apologize...but for those of you having your reception at Glen Island, when did you book the florist (ARCADIA). Our wedding is July of 2006 and I was wondering how much time i need to book them. Is this summer too late or right on target??? HELP!!!

Re: Glen Island Harbour Club girls

My wedding is this July and I think I booked them around this time last year. I don't think it's too late if you wait til the summer though. I just knew that I would be studying for the bar exam over the summer and wouldn't have much free time. Hope this helps!

Re: Glen Island Harbour Club girls

I'm probably not the right person to ask. My wedding is in about 5 months, and we just met with Arcadia this past weekend. When I expressed to Sammy (the owner) that I was a little concerned about cutting it close, he reassured me that GI brides take priority over other weddings because Glen Island requires you to use one of their recommended florists. So don't worry; they won't be booked.

I also met with Giovanna at Diana Gould; she was really easy to work with, but I wasn't too crazy about my sample CP that I just saw. We're going to wait to get Arcadia's proposal and then see a sample from them. From the rough estimate that Sammy gave us, they're a little less expensive.

Did you request to work with Sammy or did it just end up that your appt was with him? I found that after I signed the contract the florist I was working with over there had a tendency not to return my phone calls/emails or calls from my wedding planner. I think I might like to work with Sammy instead but I'm not sure how to make that happen.

Re: Glen Island Harbour Club girls

Did anyone here of a Chris over at Arcadia. I spoke with him over the phone and he seemed really nice. I have heard so many mixed reviews about the people in there, so i really want to make an appointment with a recommendation from someone. Any suggestions?
BTW. what is the average price per centerpiece there? You can FM me if you feel more comfortable.

Re: Glen Island Harbour Club girls

Jenn, it was just luck of the draw, I think. Peter called to set up the initial appointment, and he usually likes to ask for the owner, but in this instance he didn't. I'm sure if you're having any problems with communication, Sammy could help you out.

7706, I've only dealt with Sammy. I think the price per CP totally depends of what you want, in terms of flowers, size, etc. I haven't gotten the written proposal from Arcadia yet, but from what he told us, they were approx. $50 less than at Diana Gould.

Hope it helps! Feel free to FM with any questions.

Thanks! If I keep having the same issue, I might have my wedding planner play 'bad cop' and ask for Sammy

7706--Chris is actually the one I'm using. He is really nice but, like I've said before, I really got the impression last year when I called with questions that he just didn't want to be bothered since my wedding wasn't til July '05. As for price per CP, it does vary. I can tell you that they charge $3 per rose and (I think) $9 per hydrangea. Hope this helps!
