Disney hotels
Which resort would you stay at for your honeymoon? We currently have the caribbean beach resort booked but I'm having second thoughts. I just feel you only get one honeymoon and the next time we go to disney we will have kids and won't be able to afford a more expensive hotel. Should we go with a deluxe?

If this is your honeymoon, I would go all out and stay at the grand floridian. The place is breathtaking!!!!

Re: Disney hotels
I would stay at the polynesian. It is the nicest and it has the monorail in it. I have stayed at the Yacht Club/Boardwalk, The Swan, and Contemporary. But I would definitely say the best is the polynesian. The Grand Floridian is really big-not my style.

I stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort, don't get me wrong it was really nice - but if it were my honeymoon I would stay somewhere else. It was nice - but if you are willing to go for a little more than do it!! The suggestions above are great choices.

Re: Disney hotels
PS - I also stayed at the new Animal kingdom hotel. If you love animals, this is a great place. It has its own collection of animals on the property and it also has a four star restaurant. The rooms are very nice and comfortable and every room has a view of the animals.

Re: Disney hotels
I have stayed at Caribbean Beach, Dixie Landings, Port Orleans, two of the All-Star resorts, The Beach Club, Coronado Springs, The Wilderness Lodge, and the Grand Floridian. My favorite was the Dixie Landings, which I think has merged with Port Orleans. Great food (get the sticky buns), fun paddle boats and bikes and nice pool. The riverboat ride to Downtown Disney was great and relaxing.
The Beach Club was great too, but I felt that it felt crowded by the pool. Coronado Springs and the Grand Floridian did not feel 'Disney-like.' They were beautiful, but the Grand was more of a luxury hotel. Coronado Springs had a weird market place for food and you had to walk too much to get anywhere.
Maybe you should stay at a few different ones each for a night or two. It's fun and not too much of a hassle to switch hotels during your stay. We also would take 'tours' of the hotels we weren't staying at. I don't think you're supposed to, but who knows - just get on the bus and take it to a park and switch to another hotel if you don't have a rental car.
I never stayed at the Boardwalk, but I visited it and it was beautiful and fun with so much to do. You should think of that as a honeymoon stop. I don't really like the Caribbean Beach resort - not enough for a honeymoon at least. FM with any questions.

Re: Disney hotels
We HM'd at the Wilderness Lodge (but we always stay there) Concierge level. I'd suggest booking a deluxe, letting them know its your HM and asking to upgrade to concierge at checkin if available (at WL it has historically been aboout an extra $50/night when we used to do it, on the other hand when we tried to upgrade at the Yacht Clu it was going to be almost double the room rate!!).We are staying at Animal Kingdom for our 1 year but we've only eaten dinner there before.

Re: Disney hotels
We went every year, sometimes twice a year from when I was 11-19. I loved it, I really did, but I totally got Disney-ed out by the last few ones.My brother and his family moved down there with their kids so it was always a combined family visit and vacation. His wife works for Disney, so we often got free park admission and a wicked discount on the hotels.
My fiance has never been to Disney. He had only traveled out of state to go to truck shows before me - but I changed that right away and he now loves to travel. (And yes, he still goes to the truck shows and I go with him.)

Re: Disney hotels
I'd book the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian! I've been there TONS of times, and I honestly think these are the most romantic (esp. m y favorite, the Polynesian) and beautiful hotels.

Re: Disney hotels
My mother has timeshare in Disney and we stay at Old Key West...it is really nice because you can get one bedroom rooms that have a kitchen and a jacuzzi tub...I'm not sure if people who do not have Disney timeshare can stay there, but I would check it out. Also the Grand Floridian is really nice and not too many kids which should be nice for a honeymoon.

Re: Disney hotels
I've been to disney numerous times, and each resort has its own theme. The Carribbean beach resort is exactly the way it sounds. Very carribbean, upbeat and lively.. If you want something more romantic or laid back try a different resort. I agree with the previous poster about what was originally Dixie Landings which is now Port Orleans. Very elegant, not too pricey. Please be careful though. Most of these rooms come with 2 double beds, you can request a queen size and make sure you tell them its your honeymoon!!

Re: Disney hotels
We stayed at the Grand Floridian. It is expensive but I felt this was our honeymoon and the time to splurge would be now. When you go back with children it is not a place that is affordable. The hotel was amazing!! I highly recommend it.
