What do you give as an engagement gift...

if you are in the bridal party?

I am a BM in my friends wedding and her engagement party is coming up. I didn't have an e-party so I don't know how it works. She has her registry information on the eparty invite. What would be the best gift to give?

ETA: Maybe you can go in on a gift with the other BMs. My MOH and her family got us Swarovski toasting flukes. I LOVE THEM!

I save the registry gift for the shower. Every Eparty I have gone to money was always given.

Something off the registry. I feel funny giving an envelope for anything but the wedding. I feel like one of the uncles or something.....JMO

One of my best friends didn't have a registry for the e-party (her and her FH live in different cities and don't have ANY storage room. They don't know where they'll be living yet.)

I gave them $$$, but I added a little personal touch - I put the $ in a Coach wallet (a little something for her!) and I ordered a personalized xmas ornament w/ their names and engagement year --- the party was just after xmas.

eta: if she has a registry, I would get something off of it.

I don't know how close you are to them but I was in teh same situation w/ one of my close friends and although I know they needed the money I thought it was too impersonal to give them money. I bought my friend waterford toasting flutes for her engagemetn--she ended up having them so she returned it for her knife & server for her cake. I just feel like espeically when you are in teh wedding party you should get them a gift rather than money. JMO.

I love to make baskets as gifts, For my friends engangment I bought a floral hat boxes filled it with champagne and champagne glasses, I also put a picture frame with a picture of the couple in it along with candles and some bridal books and magazines. They loved it!

I would get something from her gift registry. I would give $$ for a wedding gift with a card.

For my e-party, my MOH gave us swarovski toasting flutes, 1 BM gave us $$ and the others gave us gifts from the registry. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. A gift is a gift, they will appreciate whatever you give them! BTW, some people gave us gift that were not on the registry. One guest gave us a bueatiful crystal vase for the dining room table, another gave us a beautiful crystal decanter (spelling??) and someone gave us a gift card to Home Depot. You know, the kinds of thing you really need but it wouldn't be the first thing you'd buy for yourself.

how about something to help plan the wedding, or else something with a monogram?

maybe also dinner for her and her fiance.
