Are you buying/renting/living on the streets?

Just wondering what people are doing.... are you renting an apt. for a while (and if so, for how long?) or buying a house now or what I think I'll end up doing...living on the streets?!!



I am very sad...I want to buy but it doesn't look promising...

FH and I rent seperate apartments (him a 1 bdr and me a studio).

We plan to buy before the wedding.

FH wants to buy.. but I think it's best for us to rent first for a little while. Also, we are looking to possibly either get off the island or go out east. So we'll see what happens... Can't imagine living out of New York, but with the prices so ridiculous, we might just have to!

we want to buy something too...but it is soooo hard right now we both rent, but our respective rents are really low ( I live in a 3 family house that my family owns and FH lives with mom in a rent controlled apt)

but, if we start to rent, even the rents are so high that we won't be able to save much it's so frustrating....

I am actually entertaining the idea of moving in with FH and FMIL ( ) after the wedding for a few months b/c we would save so much!!!

sigh....it's so hard!

We'll rent, I don't want to stay in teh apartment Fh si in now b/c it's a basement and that sort of makes me nervous. I think we can find something better for not much more $$. We'd ideally like to buy a house by 2010 at least latest and that's also when we'd like to start having little moon children

I live with FH and FMIL- but my FMIL is awesome...

When we were looking to rent she couldn't stand the thought of us spending all that $$$

This way we can save for a house!!

we are renting a first floor of a house. Then maybe in about 3 years or so hopefully we'll hit lotto and afford a house

that's great....I am hoping of the best. Usually FMIL is fine, but she's been acting a little funky lately...we'll see. Either way, I'd like to give it a try....

Me and FH live together in an apartment. We are looking to buy a house down south after the wedding.

we are renting, but we are definitely planning on buying a house in florida, in a few years of course.

We are going to stay in FH apt for 1 year after we are married and then by a peice of prpeorty and build in PA (my parents will be moving out there permantly...)

As much as I would love to buy right now, it's just not in the cards. We will be looking for a rental towards the end of this year.

Who knows...we'd love to get a house after we get married instead of spending money on renting...but thats only possible if we move down to jersey...we'll see..right now...living on the streets is very clear in my eyes...

We have been house hunting since summer 04...We have stepped it up a notch lately & have really been searching...FH DOES NOT want to rent...He sees it as pointless bc we have the money for a house in the real world (house prices in Nassau are not real)

If we don't find a house, we will do the condo thing just to get some type of equity!

Luckily, we each owned our own houses when we met. Now we rent out his and live in mine (ours ).

We're lucky - I don't know how anyone can buy in this market (or on LI in general) unless you stumble on a steal!

We will actually be closing on our house next week Between that and the wedding costs. . . second job here I come!!

We don't live together now, but after we are married we will be renting for at least 6 months and then we will probably buy a house wherever he is stationed at the time. More than likely Connecticut. If he chooses to leave the Navy, we will definitely be moving to Florida.
