When you send your FMIL a mother's day card . . .

from FH and yourself, how do you write it? I call her by her first name, and he calls her mom of course.

So do I say 'Dear Mary,'
Love FH and Kim

or Dear Mom,
Love FH and Kim.

I never call her mom though... that's weird. what do you do?

If it is also from FH/DH IMO you should write mom.

I never call her Mom, but I did address her card 'Dear Mom...' because it's from both my FH and myself.

Re: When you send your FMIL a mother's day card . . .

DH buys and sends cards from us for his family, and I do the same for my family. Sorry- I know that doesn't help. If I did (and didn't call his parents by Mom and Dad anyway) I would probably still address them as Mom & Dad in the card.

I would write Dear Mom and put his name first when signing.

Re: When you send your FMIL a mother's day card . . .

I'm thinking I might just have FH write out the card, that way the 'mom' is in HIS handwriting... then I can just sign my name with his....

That's what I did! I did write 'Dear Nana' in his grandma's card, but she always signed everything to me 'Love, Nana,' even when I first met her!

That's what I did - I bought the card and stuck a stamp on it, but HE had to write it out!

Re: When you send your FMIL a mother's day card . . .

DH 'doesn't do cards' so I didnt'send one, but for my parents I oput mom & signed both names, even though he calls themby there first names.

His mother singed my birthday card Mom & Dad, which I thoght was unnecessary, b/c it was just to me, not DH.

However, my parents signed our wedding cards

Mom & Dad
(Maria & Douglas)

They can be a little goofy

Re: When you send your FMIL a mother's day card . . .

I always write mom, because even though I don't ever call her mom, I feel like one of her children. For her birthday this year, we got her 3 vermont teddy bear cubs to match her mama cub. We sent two boy cubs (FH and FBIL) and one girl cub (me). She got a kick out of that. So go with how you feel about her, not necessarily what you call her.

Re: When you send your FMIL a mother's day card . . .

I don't call her Mom but I since we got married I write out the cards as 'Dear Mom'...

Before that it used to go like this:

Dear Mom(Mary),

Yes, parentheses and all.

ETA: But then it was cute because then she turned it around sort of and would sign off her E-mails to me as Mary (Mom).
