price of new kitchen?

Hi
We are going to gut our kitchen and put in all new everthing. We are going to do all the work ourselves. Can someone tell me how much their kitchen cost or ballpark it? We need a new bay window, all new appliances, new floor (maybe vinyl) and all new cabinets. New countertop as well (not granite, but something good).

TIA

Re: price of new kitchen?

So far our cabinets cost $9,000 aprox. Counter top is going to be about $1500 for Formica. The tiles where $450. We are hoping that they will be installed by the end of next week.

I forgot to add the appliances where $2500.

Re: price of new kitchen?

We did all of the work ourselves. The cabinets cost $3500 and we have a formica countertop that was around $1,000 or $1200.
Our kitchen isnt HUGE but it is a nice size.
If you are looking for vinyl tile that is usually pretty inexpensive but it all depends on the size of your kitchen)

Re: price of new kitchen?

I think our cabinets (which we installed) and the granite (which they installed) was about $7500 from Consumers about four years ago.

I believe we spent $1200 on Frigidaire stainless steel appliances (there was a deal where the 4th item was free ... fridge, DW, stove & microwave) from the Appliance Depot (I think that's what it's called).

Re: price of new kitchen?

We gutted our kitchen and did all the work ourselves too... in total, it cost about $6k. We bought our cabinets at Ikea, and that cost about $2k, the counters are from Ikea too, and that cost about $200. New tile floor and tiles for backsplash came from Home Depot, and that cost about $600. The rest of the money went to electrical work (recess lighting), appliances and we had a contractor come in and knock down the wall that separated the dining room from the kitchen... here are some pics... the first is how the kitchen looked to start, and the rest are after the renovations.

Edited to say, we saved a lot of money on some of our appliances by getting floor models. Our convection oven, which retail costs about $2k, cost about $500, only because there was a little strip missing from the bottom. We ordered it from the manufacture, and replaced it ourselves... I think it was a floor model from either Sears or Circuit City

Re: price of new kitchen?

I think all the materials cost us about $12k. The cabinets and granite were most of that - like 8k. Appliances were like $2k. The floor tile, backsplash tile, paint, door/drawer pulls, etc made up the remainder.

Re: price of new kitchen?

It really depends on what materials you use. We're looking at ~$15K for cabinets and granite. Thats not including appliances, floor or backsplash.

Also doesn't include all the materials we used for lighting and plumbing (doing it all ourselves).

Re: price of new kitchen?

We just finished remodeling our kitchen - we did cabinet refacing in antique white laminate (the old cabinets are hardwood) with brushed nickel hardware - 24 cabinets altogether and Corian countertops, new sink, faucet, new appliances, paint...

http://www.kitchenmagic.com

We hired a contractor for the cabs/counters, sink and appliance installation, that cost 8600. The sink and faucet (Kohler) we got a deal through someone (paid 400 for 800 worth of product.) Stove/dishwasher - 1300..

Backsplash did ourselves

Painted ourselves...

Total cost: $11k

Eventually we will redo floor, new window and back door...

Re: price of new kitchen?

Last summer we completely gutted our kitchen and did ALL of the work ourselves (inlcuding all new electric, plumbing, floor, windows and sky light). We went with Consumer's for our cabinets and countertop (Silestone). All totaled, we spent just over $16,000 - and that includes everything from lumber, sheetrock, paint, to all new appliances (black and stainless).

Before and after pictures: Gross before - eewwwwww !!!!
