Cakewalk Today thru Thursday at Grand Central
Yum!! This sounds like fun! Wish I can go but I can't. My sister and brother are going for me though!!Here is the info if anyone is interested:
Cakewalk at Grand Central was created by Maria McBride Mellinger, Wedding Style Editor of BRIDES magazine.
This one-of-a-kind event celebrates the latest trends in artistic confections with:
A gallery exhibition of 50 exquisitely decorated wedding cakes created by premier sugar artists from across the United States.
Click here for a complete list of participating bakers.
A Tasting Lounge offering free petit fours and a glass of MARTINI & ROSSI Asti with service by The Glazier Group, owners of Michael Jordan's The Steakhouse in Grand Central.
Decor by Geoff Howell Studio, including a towering 15 foot tall sparkling fountain made from 4000 champagne flutes and draped with Swarovski crystals to resemble a fantasy wedding cake
An interactive information and demonstration bar, staffed each afternoon by a rotating panel of expert artisans
Cake Walk brochures featuring Maria McBride Mellinger’s Wedding Style Tips for selecting wedding cakes and MARTINI AND ROSSI Asti cocktail recipes with recommendations for pairing sparkling wine with desserts

Cakewalk at Grand Central, a gallery exhibition of 50 exquisitely decorated wedding cakes created by premier sugar artists from across the United States, will be presented by Brides Magazine and Martini & Rossi Asti on Tuesday, May 24 through Thursday, May 26, in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal. Focusing on the wedding cake as edible art, the event showcases innovated personalized and stylized ideas incorporated into the tradition of the wedding cake. The exhibition will be open to the public and offer tastings of the artistic contributions of the nation's best bakers and designers. The event will also include an interactive information and demonstration bar, staffed each afternoon by a rotating panel of expert artisans. Guests will be able to ask direct questions of experts, see designs recreated, and receive Cakewalk brochures that will include Maria McBride-Mellinger's Wedding Style Tips for selecting wedding cakes and feature Martini & Rossi Asti cocktail recipes with recommendations for pairing sparkling wine with desserts.

I went today and the cake displays were absolutely beautiful! They were by bakers from all across the country -- NYC, Texas, California. There was a champagnne bar with tastings of Martini & Rossi as well as a demonstration area. People seemed to be getting tastings/samples at the demo station but I was there during the shift change and I had to get back to work. I'm sure I'll be there later this week since I work nearby, so I'll give another report then
